Do you give your kids vitamin D supplements and if you do, what dosage? Ive read 400 units is recommended but ive seen bottles of 5000 units for kids. With such a huge difference im not sure how much is really beneficial without giving them too much. Im trying to keep them flu free and healthy without antibiotics and other garbage. Whats the amount you give your kids?

for kids it's 400 IU that our pediatrician recommended to us. Our kids are 8 weeks old and a 2 year old

The conventional recommends are too low. My 20 month old gets 2000 IU a day. We had his levels tested, and they are optimal. It must be D3. I take 10,000 IU a day, and my levels are also optimal.

I don't cause even in the winter my kids are outside at least 20 minutes a day when they walk to school and back. So they are getting it from nature. In the summer they are getting sun all day (we don't use sun screen cause they don't need it due to coloring) and it stores in the body. So my kids are fine.

I would recommend that you talk to your pediatrician before you start giving your kids vitamin D supplements. Too much can be dangerous. My husband is allergic to dairy and takes vitamin D supplements, but the doctor gives him a blood test to determine what level he is at and how much he should take so that he doesn't take too much.

Good Luck,
D.

Just take them outside and play in the snow :)
They'll get all the vit D they need that way.

I purchased a liquid form from Costco and according to the directions, adults are to take 2 tablespoons and children 1 tablespoon per day. My problem is that it's super sweet tasting and my kids do not like the taste of it, so I try sneaking it in their 7UP when ever they are allowed to drink it (about 1 time per week). I have no idea what else I can sneak it in.

I've tried it and it is super sweet.
