Very TMI Sex Question

My husband had a vasectomy about 6 years ago and we have sex a few times a week. We both shower right before sex (very important for a woman to do this to get rid of any yucky e-coli hanging around down there. Nice for both of us to start out all clean and fresh anyway. I just pee afterwards and honestly, I've never had a problem - and I tend to be pretty sensitive down there - like I usually get a yeast infections whenever I'm on more than a day or two of antibiotics.

Your body cleanses itself very well... you don't need to douche or anything like that.

Unless your partner has an infection, I don't think there would be a problem. I get up right after to urinate, and that helps prevent UTI's from happening (a common cause of UTI is the bacteria that can get pushed into the urethra during sex).

The vagina is self-cleaning. They were made for the purpose of sex. Normal bathing is all that is necessary.

Condoms can cause irritations that lead to infections for some. Some people are prone to infections, UTIs or yeast, from sex or other causes. If you haven't been up til now, I wouldn't worry.

I take birth control, so we have care-free sex (he doesn't pull out). After we have sex, I just do the good ol' squeeze (eww), go pee, make sure to dry off well, and our self-cleaning vaginas do the rest! Shouldn't cause any problems. I've never had any infections/yeast infections resulting from having sex.

That's a "self cleaning" environment--so GARDEN AWAY! No need to worry. Your tubes have nothing to do with that.

Pee after sex, or soon after. That will help "clean" you out, or decrease the chane of infection. It would take a lot of uncleaniness in both your and his's part to get infected.

My hubby and I have never had issues, but we shower almost every day and I usually pee an hour or so after having sex. Maybe if he or I have some other previous infection would it be an issue to consider taking extra percautions.

too much bacteria can cause a bacterial infection. they call it "honeymoonitis" but the truth is, you have to having a lot of sex for this to happen. Like honeymoon type volume. For average frequency, there should be enough yeast to counterbalance the bacteris. Eat a lot of yogurt. Drink some cranberry juice. You'll be fine.

I am a frequent "flyer" on HoneymoonItis and ive never Had any kind of Infection--so I think enjoy your carefree-ness!!

Not addressing your actual question. But it IS possible to get pregnant with tubes tied. That's the only thing I would be concerned about.

the only thing you have to worry about is getting UTI, and you can solve that potential trip to the doctor by" cleaning up" with hand sanitizer after sex, that way any icky germs that were on their way out, and got shoved back into your "whatzit", dont give you a UTI. i used to get UTIs so frequently, that my doctor had a standing RX for me, then i stumbled onto "cleaning up" with hand sanitizer after sex, now, no more UTIs

I don't think you have to have him pull out----you should be fine completing intercourse with him still inside you. The way to avoid infection is to use the bathroom before and right after sex. Use a feminine wipe and pad for any after effects. GL

my sister has her tubes tide n from what i know her and hubbs still does the deed without any protection and she is going on 4 yrs of having them done with nothing happening, just be sure to pee after sex every time

What kind of infections are you (and your condom-using friend) talking about? UTIs? Yeast? Bacterial Vaginosis? STDs? It would help to know what you have in mind but in general, the vagina is self-cleaning. If you are concerned about UTIs (I am prone to them) then peeing after sex is helpful but you need to do that even with a condom and if using condoms, would most likely be even more prone to UTIs. Yeast infections and BV are not related to sexual activity. That leaves just STD and if that's a concern, well, then that's a BIG concern. But if you're both healthy and disease-free, you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

Added - that's correct, Pamela. Plus the fact that I'm in menopause and the vaginal walls are drier. That's why I explained that part to Molly.

never had an issue with anything of the sort. i don't really see why someone would unless like the other poster said and he has an STD or an infection himself. Sometimes I do get a little "itchy" feeling if i don't clean myself afterwards. but that's about it.

I have never had an issue from my husbands semen. It will not cause an infection unless he has an STD. If you use "aids" like food or allow for back door entry followed by vaginal penetration, then bacteria and foreign material can get in and cause an infection, but just getting one from semen is not something I have ever heard about. But I have heard that you should always pee after sex to help be sure you do not get a UTI.
