Bleeding @ 38 Weeks
Went to doctors this am b/c had pink fluid leaking - they thought possibly amniotic leak. They ran a test and was not - stated probably preterm labor and sent me home. By afternoon I was bleeding - not enough to fill a pad, but enough to change it every few hours - called Dr. - said probably just from the internal exam, but eet up, drink water and it should stop. Asked why I had to put feet up when I was 38 weeks - said they wanted to make sure the bleeding was from exam, so that should stop it. Well 4 hours of my feet up and it hasn't stopped, so called the Dr. on call at 6:30 PM. By 7:30 there was no call returned from on call Dr. Called the answering service back - said they see I called at 6:30, but it is at the discretion of the Dr. to call me back - I am so furious. No one has said this is normal and from my last conversation it sounds like there was some concern - has anyone experienced this?
So What Happened?™
Thank you to all that wrote - ironically I called the Dr back twice and spoke with him - they finally had me come in to the hospital. late that night. Delivered a 5 lb. 15 oz baby boy the next day

Go to the ER immediately if you can't get a response from the Dr. I had a problem where the placenta had partially detached and the bleeding was from my body trying to replace that part of the placenta. The bleeding was gradual at first and then just started gushing. You can honestly bleed to death from that condition if you do nothing so get to the ER. If that is the case, they'll have to deliver the baby and placenta ASAP.
I'd also love to know who this Dr. is so I can tell friends and family to never go there.

That is very unprofessional. I hope you've heard something by now.
I also had pink leaking and was sent home because the amniotic fluid test was negative. My daugher ended up being born the next day. Turns out that her head was so low it was acting as a plug. Some fluid did leak out, but by the time they tested me, her head had plugged everything up, so no fluid was detectable. It wasn't until I had an internal the next day and the doctor pushed on her head (fluid came rushing out) that they realized I wasn't crazy and was acutally leaking fluid and contracting. Good luck to you. I hope all is well.

Hopefully, you have already, but GO TO THE ER. You should be getting attention from your Dr & you are not. If everything is fine, they will just send you home. No big deal, but at least you'll know.

Hopefully you are not able to read this, but if you are I would call the office and get an appointment for today. If they say they don't want you to come then go anyway. Your peace of mind is far more important at this time. They should not have put you off. I think you should go and get checked out just to make sure. I never heard of bleeding at this time and the baby is fine to be born now if it had to come today.
Good luck

I would go to the ER right away just like the other women said. Bleeding isnt something to mess with and after you have this baby i would never go back to that doctor again. Hopefully everything is ok but any bleeding especially this late is a cause for concern. After an exam a little spotting is normal but not enough to fill a pad in a couple of hours. I know someone had said about teh placenta detaching and that is serious. Please let us know how it turns out. Please forget your doctors advice and get to the nearest ER!

I haven't experienced this myself, and most of the pregnant women I've known have not had this happen either. So for peace of mind, I suggest you just go to the ER and someone will HAVE to examine you, take history and call your doc. Not to worry you, but suppose the placenta has begun to detach? Go to the ER, and they will probably do an ultrasound as a matter of course and will call your doc.
Let us know how it turns out.
