Our little lady will be turning 1 next week(still can't believe it). In laws are asking for gift ideas and my family is sending $$$ from Russia ,so we will have to get their princess something from them. She does not really need anything, does not like "baby" toys but likes playing with her brothers cars, legos and star wars figures(ALWAYS supervised of course). She is going to need a bigger car seat, but for the grandparents a car seat would not do.They have HIGH budgets so I am trying to think of something that can be used for years to come.Any ideas?
PS she has couple of baby dolls and stuffed animals that she loves ,one of those little tikes plastic strollers, toddler legos,we have train table, wooden puzzles, play food, blocks......all hand me downs or thrift store finds.....that's how I like it:)
savings plan already taken care of.......

What can I do next?

Wagon
Kitchen set
Cozy Coupe car (there's one with a handle to push younger kids)
Book shelf
Small rocking chair or rocking horse

My favorite 1st bday gift for my kids was a very cute growth chart from Land of Nod. We record their height every 6 months.

Why not get a savings bond, that will mature as she grows? It's the gift that keeps on giving, if you let it go past maturity (meaning, a $50 can go up in value, I recently cashed some that were worth $130!!)

You're the one who know what the relatives will like to give, but... could you think about a high-quality child-sized table and chair set for her room? And/or a pint-sized easy chair so she can climb into it to "read" books? Those would be things she could use now and later, and your folks can be happy they could "invest" in these useful items for their granddaughter.

a personalized step stool with her name as a puzzle. My girls are still using theirs and they are 3 and 5. They love their stools!

If she has dolls...what about doll accessories? Bitty Baby type stuff? Clothes? Build-a-Bear from them? Maybe get a voice chip and say something in Russian? IKEA also has kiddie tables/ chairs that I like and had we the room, we would have a set for DD. Or what about something outdoors? Or a bookshelf and some books? Or her first birthday photos with a nice frame?

Useful but not so expensive include her first real cup/plate/spoon, a party dress, Mabel's Labels?

A hope chest, you can store all her special things in it and later she can pass it down to her daughter. I soooo wish I would have been able to do this for my girls.

get savings bonds for her. this is something that will be able to be saved for her college education, a car when she is older, a house, wedding etc. get a book from each of the grandparents and put the rest away. if you explain to them what it is they will probably be fine with it. one more toy to throw in the landfill is just not a good plan especially if she has everything she needs now

The high ticket items that I remember really wanting when my oldest was that age were a play kitchen, play house, and play structure. Or how about a really well-made doll house?

I bet you can find her a gorgeous toy box that she will use for a long time and pass down to her kids.
I bought my son one for his 1st birthday.
I still have the one my grandpa made me when I was little.
