Twin Double Stroller

I am seeking the advice of any moms out there with twins. We are expecting a set of twins in May 2011. At the time our little girl will have just turned 4. I am fortunate enough to have a very generous MIL who has offerred to purchase a twin stroller for us. Unfortunately, I have no idea which stroller is best. I have baby trend car seats and would really like a stroller that is compatible with these. Is an in-line stroller or side by side style best? What do you recommend? Thank you for all your suggestions!

What can I do next?

Congratulations! When my twins were infants I liked the double snap and go. By about 6 months, I moved them to a McClearon (SP?). They are 2.5 and still use it every day. Its light, is more narrow than a wheel chair so it fits in all stores. Whatever you get, make sure that the wheel base is handicap accessible. I have friends whose wheel bas was too wide (by an inch!) and they cannot fit itno many doorways. Again congrats-its a great ride with twins.

I actually highly recommend the Double Snap and Go. It was a lifesaver with twins. Sometimes you do NOT want to get them out of their infant car seats (like the store for instance) and you just pick the seats up and snap them on. So convenient! I agree that it isn't the greatest for walks in like an urban neighborhood with uneven sidewalks as it is a little hard to push on those type of surfaces. It is great for a smooth floor (like the grocery store, Target, the mall) and just getting from the car to where you are going. Believe me it is a PAIN to carry two infant car seats into appointments, classes, etc. But for walks in the neighborhood you could get the MacLaren Twin Stroller, which is awesome. It is so lightweight. And of course the twins will grow out of those infant care seats so you will need a regular double at some point. The Double Snap and Go is so cheap ($100 new, much cheaper used) and efficent I say you can't go wrong with one. Then get a MacLaren for your regular stroller. If you want a jogger I hear the Double Bob is a good one. I have three kids now and have the Valco Twin Trimode with the optional third "captains seat" and although it is bulky it is great if we need all three in a stroller.

I recently got 2 new strollers:
I have the brand new baby trend sit & stand that fits two car seats it's nice. This makes it so we can put my daughter in either spot. I picked this out, but my MIL bought it. This is easier to shop with and fits inside more easily.
Then I was given as a gift the BOB revolution duallie and LOVE it. Now this stroller rides like a dream but is expensive and slightly bulky. I did not however purchase the bar as I figured it was short term and I only have 1 infant so I can't advise there. I have been for many walks with it and no other double or single compares. (I also picked this after looking over tons of brands)
It's a tough choice. Good luck there is so much to choose from.

I am not a twin mom but I do day care. I find side by side strollers harder to fold up and do not fit in stores well or some sidewalks. I also think side by side strollers are harder to push and control. L.

I have twins and when they were babies I had the snap and go deluxe stroller - it was a monstrosity! I wouldn't recommend it. The basket underneath was giant though, the only plus but it is so long that I constantly had trouble maneuvering around. Whenever I see the Kolcraft Contours Options Tandem Stroller around I am constantly envious of it and wish they had that when my kids were babies. I have never actually used it so this is purely based on the look of it. Now that they are older we have the Combi Duo Glider and love it. It has a strap that makes it easy to carry around and I have seen parents with a car seat attached. Just not sure which car seat models are compatible.

Good luck!

With a generous MIL I recommend the Britax B-Ready, it the BEST out there right now for twins. Holds both 2 car seats AND two toddler seats and it is a sturdy well built stroller that will last for years. I don't have one, but I'm dreaming of it if we have a second baby anytime soon ;)

hi, i do not have twins, but i put my 3 kids in my double stroller all the time, still, since they were newborn, 2 and 4. they are now 3 5 and 7 and they still all sit in together. its really expensive, it was a gift to me too, thank goodness. i have the valco twin. check it out on their website. its a side by side. it is huge, but handles beautifully, you can steer with one hand. the kids can lie flat, i change them in it, they can even lie on their belly. it folds up super easy once you get the hang of it. its wide but it fits through a standard doorway. its bulky and heavy when its folded. i flip it up into the rear of my minivan so i dont really ever have to lift it, i just lean it on the back bumper and flip it in and out, its great. if i had to lift it, it wouldnt be so great. i dont know if your carseats click in, a lot of them do. they sell adaptors for them. check the website for your carseats. they also sell a jumpseat that your 4 year old can sit in while the babies are in. i never bought it, i just put 2 kids in one seat, there is plenty of room with the seat reclined to double up. it is super sturdy, i used to sit on the foot of it to nurse or rest or whatever. it goes over dirt, grass, gravel, anything, even sand sometimes. i love it so much, its my freedom, we go everywhere with it, but its not for everyone. best of luck to you.
