Simple....

What is it?

How do you use it on a computer or tablet?

If you have a cable account and are paying the monthly fee can you get the regular cable TV on that device no matter where you are? Like if I live in the country without cable access but if we continue to pay for an account in town can I watch cable TV on my computer or tablet in the country?

What about satellite? If we are paying for satellite but the weather is bad and the satellite is out in the house will it still work on the device? Or is it the same signal that doesn't work when it rains?

I cannot be out in the country without any sort of radar or weather updates when it's storming. The satellite goes out as soon as the clouds roll in. I have talked to the cable company but they are not interested in extending the line a couple of miles more. It is too expensive.

So I am dreading this move so much. Not only are we going to be out in the boonies but no satellite or cable when the weather is bad. I seriously want cable, it is always there and it doesn't matter if the weather is good or not. But since it's not an option I need to find another way.

Is TV Everywhere an option that will work for me?

Eta

We will have satellite internet but when it rains it goes off. I don't really have any interest in watching recorded shows, I need weather to be live, just like I was in town watching cable TV so I can see the reports and radar. I also enjoy watching the shows at the time they are on so I can chat with friends and not miss out on new stuff.

I was sort of hoping this TV Everywhere would take the place of us having to pay for DISH or some other satellite TV provider, I hate giving up a lot of my favorite shows because a dish provider doesn't offer this or that channel on this or that program. You have to buy a lot of channels you would never watch just to get the few that we watch all the time.

So here's what I got from the answers.

I have to have an internet provider so I can go to the cable site and click on the TV Everywhere icon. Then I can watch TV just like I was sitting there at the house in town. If I am on the road and don't have a wifi signal I do not get any TV.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

We get a better signal from my FIL's satellite internet in our new house that when we're sitting at his dining room table. So we are going to share his bill for a while to see how it goes.

Once we get moved we are going to get a land line again because we do not have a cell signal in this area. It will be a real line coming in on the poles so that will help. If AT&T had cable style tv access we'd already have that. I worked at Sykes for a couple of years and worked on the DSL accounts. So I know we'll be too far away from the offices to get DSL or other services like that.

THANKS FOR THE ANSWERS!!!!

Do you, or will you have an internet service Provider... where you will be?
If there is internet service and an internet Provider where you will be... then, you can watch basically anything, online. With your desk top computer.
Tablets, are also, internet able.

Many people nowadays, use their computer, as a "TV."
And they don't have an actual, "TV."
So they don't have a cable tv provider. But they have an Internet Service Provider.

So there are 2 options:
- having a TV cable Provider/account, or...
- Having an internet service Provider account.

I would, call your existing TV cable account Provider, and ask them your questions about if you can still access TV when you are in town or in the country.

Having Internet access, and having TV cable access, are typically 2 different things.

With a computer or tablet, you can use it anywhere, IF you have an internet Provider and account.
And you can use your table, where there is WiFi.
You can watch anything, on a computer via the internet.
But you need to have, an account with an internet Provider, if you want to be able to access, the internet.

But if you are going to be out in the boonies... with no tv cable and no internet access or internet provider, then you cannot even have online internet service, nor a TV.
Will you even have telephone or cell phone service, there?

I can watch Comcast on my Android phone and on my IPad. So I think you should be fine as long as you have internet access. I don't know about the computer though.

I know you can get netflix on your Wii, through your cable provider. I know Verizon wireless a wireless interne service. Good service but can get expensive as they count the downloads. Satellite is satellite. If that is how its comming into the house. Now I have my local cable going into the house but then it is set up to be wireless through out the house. So my daughter can watch netflix on the wii, I believe you can get HU net also on teh wii but i havent tried it. I can watch local tv weather etc on laptop through my wireless interent in the house by going to the channel's web page.

Well, my mom just has a few people who live in town who have agreed to call her if there is a tornado warning. That system has worked for 20 years. My grandparents, who live next door to my parents, have one of those radio weather alert things but it drives them nuts because if a drop of rain falls that damn alarm is going off.
