Turning Blue/fainting

My son (almost 2) had three episodes of slipping and falling then crying very hard, turning bluish, especially the lips, not breathing for a minute or so, fainting or almost fainting for a couple of minutes. I held him, he calmed down and afterwards was fine, like nothing happened. This wasn't a tantrum. I heard that sometimes kids can cry so hard, they stop breathing therefore the oxygen stops going to the brain and they turn blue. Is this normal in toddlers or could this have been a seizure? Is anyone familiar with EEG testing?
Thank you for your help.

It is very normal for a toddler to cry really hard and appear to not breathe or turn blue. I was always told taht if you have to, blow lightly in their face. My daughter sometimes does this and the slight breath shocks her enough to take a breath. All of my nieces and nephews have had bouts of hard crying as well. But if you are concerned or if the slipping appears out of nowhere, go with the test. If anything it will give you peace of mind.

if it was a seizure you would have probably seen his body go very rigid for a while and arms pushed out no crying. When i was little i used to cry like this all the time and not breathe....it freaked my mom out but she did the same thing the other poster said....a light blow of breath in the face kinda snaps them out of it. if you are worried why not talk to your ped. and put your mind at ease.

Hi,

If he was having a siezure he would not have been crying he would have fainted like and totally passed out. Was he? Was he crying during these? Was there any shaking? Afterward was he limp? I have a siezure disorder, and have lots of EGGs. An EGG wil tell if you have abnormal brain activity.
