Tubal Reversal Surgery

Hello - I was wondering if anyone had first or secondhand experience with reversal of a tubal ligation? I have been reading up on it and I know it's possible and pretty successful, but I wanted to hear stories from people who have had it done or know someone who had it done. My husband and I are considering the possibility of that and another child. This is not set in stone, I am just gathering information now. If you do know anyone who had this done, were they able to get pregnant successfully and go on to have a child?

I know, I should have thought of this before, right? :) I've been through those thoughts already on my own. Thank you for any help you can give!

Absolutely. I have a friend who has an 18 year old daughter who had this surgery 7-8 years ago. She has a very happy and healthy 6 year old daughter who is my 3 1/2 yo favorite friend. She is also currently going through the initial stages to be a surrogate for another friend of ours.

Hi L. - I have a friend who had it done and was pregnant within just a couple months! She was over 30 at the time, maybe 32 or so, and it was her 4th pregnancy. Good luck to you!

Hi L.,
I just finished a prenatal pool class with a woman having her 2nd child after a tubal reversal. I know that she was watched very closely by her surgeon with the first and he is now a healthy 2 year old. I'm not sure where you live, but her surgeon was dr Robert Sasso in concord nh. He has a great reputation as a surgeon. Good luck.

I don't know how old you are, but I imagine the younger you are, the better your chances. My mom had it done in her forties as well as fertility treatments and nothing came of it. I wish you luck!

Surgical techniques have improved a great deal since the advent of microsurgery, so reversals are a bit more successful than they used to be. Get several opinions and lots of referrals.

I hope that your surgery will be successful and that you will get pregnancy easily. However, there is an increase in the amount of scarring and, as a result, the percentage of ectopic (tubal) pregnancies is higher. Be sure you are well versed in the symptoms of a tubal pregnancy to prevent it reaching the stage where it is dangerous, such as a tubal rupture. Pregnancy symptoms can be the same, although sometimes the tests don't come out positive due to lesser hormone production. But there is often shoulder pain due to stimulation of a nerve in the tubal area which refers pain up to the shoulder area. I'm not saying this will happen, but you need to be prepared and extra vigilant.

Good luck to you!
