Tree Removal Cost

We just moved in our new home and it is surrounded by trees. We love trees. Anyway, 4 of them have their branches touching the house (damaging the roof, walls and windows and attracting bugs and pests) and 2 others are on the side where we plan to build a garage.
We are planning to have the 2 trees on the side completely removed so we can build the garage. For the 4 others, we are not sure if we will just cut the touching branches, cut the trees or remove the trees all together with roots...

Before contacting professionals, we would like an idea of the cost. I know it varies a lot depending on the size of the tree. These are average size. We just need a rough estimate on how much this will cost us. Anybody gone through that?

Also, do the professionals also take care of removing the branches/trees to the trash facilities?

Thanks

What can I do next?

Price varies. First, you have to make sure the tress can be removed and are not "protected" in the State of California. Second, call around to nurseries and see if any of them are interested in the type of trees you have. If they are, they will come remove them (stump and all) for free. Next, if the nurseries don't want your tree, call a tree service, make sure they have insurance (especially since the branches are touching your house), and ask if the price includes removing the stump, or grinding the stump.
I have learned through trying to get rid of our numerous trees, most charge 500+ but they will not remove the stump, they only grind it down to it's lower to the ground and wont grow back (we want ours completely removed). Most of the tree services I have contacted will remove the debris. Good Luck!

Go to Servicemagic.com. It's a site that gives you referrals of companies they screen. The companies called me within 48 hrs (I submitted my info on the weekend and one company called me Sunday & the other two on Monday), three companies came out to give free estimates to have our trees trimmed. All three companies that came were very professional. We decided on which company we wanted and they were able to come back the same day to trim our trees.

The professionals will give you a free estimate. I suggest calling 3 or 4 places in your city and asking for a free estimate and taking it from there.

I live in the inland Northwest, so our "normal" trees are GIGANTIC pine trees...I am not sure if that is what your "normal" trees are as well, so it is hard to give you a rough estimate but I would say @$200 for trimming and then more for full removal and I believe you need to discuss if they remove the fallen wood or if you have to, as well as if they are going to bore out your tree stump?? Not sure if "bore out" is even the right word? You know, where they dig down and take the stump and roots completely out?!

I am having two average sized trees removed (they are touching my house and the neighbor's) and it's going to cost me $600. (This includes removing the stump and taking away all debris.) But I'm in Illinois, so I'm sure prices are different. I got bids from two different tree companies and each one really wanted the business so they kept going lower on their bids. Maybe you could try something like that.
