Ear aches that are not treated with antibiotics can lead to deafness, the infection going to the blood stream and finding it's way to the heart and brain and thereby causing death, etc...so you need to call the doc. If nothing else take her to the ER so she can get some antibiotics.

Ear infections are serious business.

You might be young but you are clearly tuned into your daughter so give yourself some more credit! You are a good Mama.

She will need to go to the pediatrician, if she hasn't already, to determine if she has an infection. If she does, you can ask for numbing drops in addition to the antibiotics they will prescribe.

Ibuprofen for now....If you only have Tylenol, use that for now until you can get some Motrin.

Also, it can hurt more to be horizontal so if she can't sleep you might want to try holding her upright against you .... Either in a rocker or proppd up together in your bed so you can both get some rest.

I have had two ear infections recently as an adult and I was sorely reminded how much they hurt.

Two of my kids have had tubes and the third will likely get them this year.
Ear problems are the pits. Good luck.

For immediate relieve, maybe Tylenor or Motrin, you have to take her to the doctor because most likely it hurts because of an ear infection and she will need antibiotics.
Good luck to you!

My son is prone to ear infections. If you don't have health insurance, bring her to the CVS Minute Clinic. Inexpensive and affordable. She needs antibiotics. The antibiotics will start taking care of it within 24 hours and she will finally have a good night sleep again. The longer you wait, the longer it will take for the ear infection to heal which could mean more antibiotics. Good luck!

This is for AFTER this is cleared up.

Taking her to the chiropractor will help prevent them in the future. My son is 4 1/2 and has NEVER had one and he's been getting adjusted since he was born. ( HE LOOOVES going too!)

She needs a pediatrician.
Please make an appt. today, if you already haven't done that.

You can lightly microwave a small towel til warm--not hot--and she can hold that to her ear. Motrin or Tylenol as directed by your pediatrician for pain as well.

Hope she's better fast!

Christine is SOOOOO right, most Chiropractors are very affordable (mine is 10$ a visit after the initial one where they di x-rays on me and my older kids). My kids are rarely if ever sick and they fight off germs so much faster and we all feel great. My 1 year old has been going since he was a newborn and I'm 7 months pregnant and still go.

Definately go with the warm washcloth, or put a towel or favorite stuffed animal in the dryer for a bit. The warm will help break down the mucus that is is stuffing up her inner ear.

Some ear infections are viral, some are bacterial, but it all goes back to that mucus that's stuffing up her ears. Definately head to the pedi if it's not better by tomorrow, but if it's viral, they won't give you antibiotics. In the meantime, treat it like a cold, and prop up her head while she's lying down - put a rolled-up towel under the head end of her bed. Putting drops in her ears will only help if it's either an outer ear infection (swimmer's ear), or if the eardrum bursts. If that happens, you'll know it, because that mucus will drain. She'll feel better instantly, though.

Hang in there, mama. You're looking out for your little one, and that's fantastic.
