I was wondering if any moms (or dads) out there have ever towed a boat with a minivan. I have a 2007 Nissan Quest that can tow 3500 pounds. I want to get a boat and don't have any other car that can tow it, so I was wondering if it was safe to tow and launch a boat with it.
our neighbors have a surburban they tow a camper with. they got a special thing that attaches to the car that makes towing eaiser. call a trusted auto shop and ask them what it was and how much. sorry i dont remember the name of it. it might have something to do with the breaks...break box. if you want to know i will find out for you...just ask.
It can certainly be done, but you may want to have a tow kit installed for extra security. A bumper tow wouldn't be ideal for launching a boat. Don't forget to have lights wired!
the weight limits of most mini vans state what you can and cannot pull. If you don't find it in there or have lost yours, then I would call the manufacturer. I wouldn't trust hearsay on something so vital to your and other drivers' safety.

My parents have towed a boat with their minivan for 12 years, no problems!
I have a 2005 Honda Odyssey with a tow package and that is what we use to tow our boat. It had done a great job. The tow package included a beefier oiling package for the engine and a hitch. We have never had a problem. Our boat is 19 1/2 feet maybe less than 2000 pounds. If the trailer for the boat has only 1 axle then you should be fine. If you get a boat that requires 2 axles you may have problems. Good luck.
