Toddler Going on 3Rd Week Sick!!
Im going crazy my almost 2 year old daughter has been sick for 3 weeks. The Dr said its just viral and theres nothing that can be done.It started with fever then she threw up once a day for a few days, then diahrea then a cold with a runny nose. Now this week shes complaining that her tummy hurts. At leat this week shes starting to eat normal again.I think Im going to take her to the med center this evening.Has anyone else had this?
So What Happened?™
Thanks for everyone who responded.I did take her to the urgent care center. They were concerned that her fever has lasted so long(it was 101.7 that visit)They wanted to do a urine test but she wouldnt go potty and instead of doing a cath they gave me antibiotics for a urinary tract infection, they said all the symptoms pointed to that. They also said to give her live cultures=yogurt. So if shes not better in 3-5 days we go for further testing.Hopefully she will feel better soon, thanks again to all who shared their stories with me.Update :She is now 100% better.

I have a daycare here and the 4 youngest ones here had the same thing the past 2 weeks. They have done stoo samples and ran tests-just a viral thing...they stopped the stomach/intestine thing yesterday and now have a little cough and runny nose. she`ll be fine.

I don't have much advice, but just wanted to let you know you are not alone right now. My daughter has her 2 year molars coming in, she just got a cold, and just got glasses that are upsetting her tummy. She is a mess! I will tell you that Mommy knows best and is you think she should be seen then I would take her to her normal pedi. I took my daughter to the after hours clinic for a 103 degree fever and they sent her home. I asked them to look at her diaper rash while we were there also. Well we sent to the pedi on Monday (still with a 103 fever on motrin) and she had an infected diaper rash caused by an allergy to her diapers. The clinic was useless! and her pedi agreed that they are, he said next time call him and he will take care of everything.

Did your 6 year old just start school this year? Because if she did, she is probably the culprit! LOL When kids first start school they tend to bring home just about every bug under the sun, and of course it's worse in the winter months. It could be that your little one has had several different viruses, instead of just one long-lasting one.

my 2 1/2 year old has just entered her 2rd week of being sick...no fever anymore, but the cough & congestion is still there! it gets frustrating because the doctor just says - it's viral...nothing can be done! i always ask when/how long (of course the dr can't answer that!) and get to thinking maybe she's got another infection...and always wonder when or if i should bring her back to the dr. i just try to observe her closely and go w/ my instinct...not the best advice - but you're not the only one in this situation!
i work full time and she's in daycare...the dr says she's just exposed to more infections...i keep hoping she's building up her immune system and when she's in school, we won't be going through all these colds anymore!! am very interested in other responses! good luck!

Hi P.,
I hope your doctor appointment went okay. Yes, my kids are sometimes sick for a month. It seems like a lifetime, and I too start to wonder if they will ever get better, but they always do. Good luck. I hope she feels better soon.

If she is finally eating normally after being sick for so long her tummy might hurt because it is getting used to digesting food again. I would stick to esy to digest foods.
Blessings, K.

My 3 year old had the same thing back in December. He had a very low grade fever for a few nights with one episode of vomiting each night for about a week (went to the doc, nothing wrong, virus), followed by a crazy cold, and then a 3rd week of just not feeling well. He was better, it took a while, but he did get better!
