Toddler Clothing Sizes

I'm trying to take advantage of end-of-season winter sales and am trying to figure out what size to get for my toddler for next winter. He is currently 19 months old and is in the 75th-90th percentile for height, but has shorter than average legs. So now he wears 2T shirts and 18-month pants. I'm interested in hearing what size your toddlers wore (or are wearing) at around 2-1/2 years. 2T? 3T? Thanks!

Hi A.,

I would get the 3T. My son was 21 months when I bought some summer 2T and they barely fit him. So I would go with 3T.

Hello

My son was 2years 6months last winter 2008, and he just turned 3 this past May 9. Anyway back in the winter, by October of 2008, he was wearing size 3T pants and 3T shirts however, he was still wearing (just for a few weeks),some of his 2T'S winter clothing from 2007 and begining of 2008(January and February months) My son is in the average toddle size for his age and if your son is in the right size too, then buy him the 3T size for winter clothing. And for summer you need 4T. I hope I explained myself clearly. GOOD LUCK!!!!!

My son is also big for his age (just turned 3 and could easily pass for a year or more older in size). He blew through the baby sizes and then stayed at 2T and 3T for a long while, close to a year each. Some of his size 2T and 3T clothes I got 2 winters out of. I would get 2T pants and 3T shirts. My son has been going from size 3T to 4T since his 3rd birthday (he is in the 90 something %ile for size).

It is hard to say on any child because they all grow at different rates but my son who is now 2 1/2 years old and is 90th percentile has been in 3T since 2 around two years. He is now 38 inches tall and will go to 4T in another inch. I would buy 3T if you are going to buy ahead. You can always roll the cuffs.

Hi,

I would defenitly say 3T. My daughter is 2 1/2 and she just started fitting into 3T so from what I saw last winter, she will be fitting into 3T until the spring of 2010. Even if the 3T pants are big still get them since most of the toddler pants now a days have the adjustable waists.

My son is 2 1/2 will be 3 in July. He is in the 97% in length and wears a 3T now which are starting to be short but we are going into nicer weather so I will keep him in 3T summer stuff but if I was to buy stuff for next winter I would by 4T. Its also wiser to go bigger he will grow into whatever size you buy. Hope this helps.

3T is a risk as your son is wearing 2T on top. depending on brands I still would do 4T. If the sleeves are long next winter you can roll them and pants can be shortened, but it's all about the belly, they need comfort. I'm in the children's clothing business and I would advise my customers during sale to do the same. Enjoy getting the DEALS!!!! A. B
