This is totally a personal, turn your checks pink question...I apologize up front!

Just curious what you ladies out there have been told or think is the best way to help ensure conception after sex? Is there a certain amount of time you "stay in bed"? Do your prop your body a certain way? Do you make sure you pee/dont pee afterwards?

Also, how often, when in the cycle etc have you been told is "best"? Any other little things to keep in mind when trying to conceive other than the "just have fun" advice ? : - ) I have been told lots of things and just wonder what everyone else is being told! Thanks for the insite!

Also, my doc told me to use "evening primerose oil" but I have NO clue what to do with this stuff...put it "in"?, drink it?...how often, how much, or even what its for...thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for all the fun advice...i appreciate it!

As for a few of your questions: I have been "trying" for about 6 monthes but to preface that...I have had one heck of a oouple monthes recently so it is really of no suprise to me that I have not been successful. I had 2 miscaragies in Oct and Nov...I was laid off from my job of 5 years in Dec (I found another great job right away), and my mom (49 yrs old) lost her battle with cancer in Janurary. So needless to say, my life is calming down and I think when the time is right, IT will happen : - ) I wasn't meant to be pregnant through all that, and thats ok. I just thuoght I would start prepaing and getting some advice from all you great moms out there! Thanks again!

I would prop pillows under me and keep my butt/legs in the air for maybe 10 minutes afterwards. Didn't matter how uncomfortable it was for me, I just really wanted to get pregnant fast, and I did with only a month of trying so maybe that helped, who knows?? Good Luck!!!!

With both my girls I peed immediately afterword and still conceived them. I think position is a big factor on how deep the semen was left at.

I'm so sorry about the loss of your mother. I do agree that you probably weren't meant to be PG through those rough months.

I"m on my 1st month of trying after a loss of conjoined twins that I conceived after 18months of trying.
I use preseed, instead cups, and ovulation test strips.

Both times we were trying I would put a pillow under my butt and hips immediately after sex and stay that way for about 15 minutes, trying to keep my vaginal muscles contracted, before going to the bathroom to pee/clean up. We made sure to try at least daily during the third week of my cycle. I also took daily prenatal vitamins while trying to conceive. Got pregnant within 2 months of stopping the pill both times. Good luck!

You should be elevated so the "swimmers" stay in as long as possible to improve chances of conception....but honestly for me...I never worried and didn't do anything to increase my chances....Fertile Mertyle here. All three were one hit wonders :) Good luck

If you get to know your body, then you can pinpoint the days that your fertile. I'm usually fertile between 12-16 days into my cycle & I'm always really in the mood at that same time every month. It's best to urinate before & after sex to prevent infection & personally I didn't have to do anything extra just don't take a bath right after & that should work. I think doggy style is the perfect position. It's a straight shot...worked for me. Good Luck!

Get an ovulation predictor kit. They sell cheapies for about $15 and there is a month's worth instead of just 7 or 8 days. Pee on a stick every morning after your period ends, and when the stick changes color you are ovulating! I also did the pillow under the butt thing, but I doubt it does anything physical. Sometimes mental aids help though! :)

I would prop up your hips as high as you can, if you are a yogi or flexible shoot your legs high over your torso, use gravity to your advantage for at least 20 minutes. The best time to concieve is the day you ovulate, you can chart your cycles if you are unsure when you will ovulate. Find the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility"- it is the bible of concieving and natural birth control.

try webmd.com about the best times to try. it even helps you decide for boy or girl. I would prop your rump in the air for 10-15 minutes to make sure it is running in. I would also not go to the bathroom afterwards, i wouldnt use the oil stuff only becuse the thought of drinking it or using it could make me vomit on the spot. Good Luck with getting pregnant.!!!

Get "Taking Charge of your Fertility" out of your public library. It has a very clear run down on how to check your body's cues to know when you're ovulating so that you can either try to get pregnant or avoid getting pregnant. Good luck!

Evening primrose oil is a suppliment you take. My grandma, who owned a health food store, always said it was a natural remedy for PMDD, I've never heard it of it's use to help with conception.

I had two unplanned pregnancies, with my third (8 weeks now) we were trying and nothing happened. I knew exactly when I was ovulating and it didn't happen. After I didn't get prego in January, I didn't even look at the calendar or track anything . . . much to my surprise, I was prego when I realized I was over a week late!!!! I didn't do anything "special" went to the bathroom immediately after even.

I had asked my Dr the same question... she said there is no perfect formula for times of sex or staying in bed. I had done pretty much every different thing over 10months. I finally found out I was prego after really thinking it wasn't going to happen and making fertility appointments. We didn't do anything special, but I had been using ovulation strips the whole time. I get my LH surge on the 13th day, and we had sex day 12 and 14. (had done this before and it hadn't worked).

Good luck and it will happen!

I went off the pill, and we basically starting making love more often, and I would lay down for at least 20 minutes afterwards. We got pregnant very quickly, but I had to have a D and C. We are trying again, and hoping to have a baby soon :)

It seems when I wasn't trying to conceive, I actually did. When I did try, never worked... There was 9 years between my middle and last child. I really thought my body was done after my second child. When I did hit my 30's I did want another child but didn't think it would happen. When I was ovulating, when the mucus drops, I tried to have sex then, I usually was more horney then too... I think for me, when I really did stop trying, relax and just had fun, I got pregnant.

I have never heard of "evening primerose oil", please ask your doc about it and share the answer.

How long have you been trying? If not too long, I would say just be patient because once that "littler swimmer" makes it's way up there and the time is right, you will conceive!

Blessings.....
