How to Get Pregnant?

We have been attempting to get pregnant with our second child (I say attempting because we're not at not full force, 100% effort). I am wondering if any of you have any tips or recommendations to help be more successful. I am not concerned about the possibility of not being able to get pregnant, I have no reason to be quite yet. I am just wondering when the best time to concieve is, amount of sex a woman has to have, any recommended vitamins (if aplicable) or any other advice that I can keep in the back of my mind. I know it's probobly not an exact science, as every woman is different, but some general knowlege would be helpful. Thanks ladies!

What can I do next?

You can get OTC prenatal vitamins and start taking them. I would also recommend eating right and exercising. Having sex every other day helps too.

Enjoy!

Another recommendation for Taking Charge of Your Fertility. It has a lot of great information that saved me money on ovulation predictor kits and saved me some disappointment when I saw my temperature going down (no false expectation of being pregnant that cycle). It also helped me not to obsess so I could relax and have fun (just knowing my temperature made me aware of what was going on throughout my cycle). I also recommend the prenatals and evening primrose oil (I think it helps with cervical fluid).
Best of luck to you!

I went to acupuncture after sorta trying for two years after my first was born. The acupuncturist said that I had never fully healed from having the first one. He gave me a book called "Fertility Wisdom" and in it is a foods menu specifically designed for getting pregnant. His simple words to me before I read the book were to keep warm, inside and out. He got upset with me once because I showed up for acupuncture with wet hair. He said always blow dry your hair to keep as warm as you can be. The foods list is extremely helpful (I could fax it to you if you dont want to buy the book) but, generally speaking, no coffee (cafeinated tea is okay) no refined sugar (brown sugar is okay), no wheat, very little dairy, and no raw food. One great tip he told me was to always eat fresh food. When you cook veggies (for instance) and put them in the fridge they immediately start losing nutrients. within a few hours they have only half the nutrients they started with. Freezing foods is even worse. Frozen foods too. Try to buy and eat fresh.

I have to tell you; I followed his guidelines, mostly. I was pregnant after my second visit to the acupuncturist. I kept going for the first five months and I had the most comfortable and healthy pregnancy. Way nicer than the first one.

Lots of women have said you need to start tracking your cycle--mycycle.com is AMAZING for that. It allows you to input as much or as little info as you want (some women track basal body temp, for instance, but I just wanted to track my periods). It was very helpful for me, as well as my doctor when my cycle was crazy after a miscarriage--I could print out my chart and take it to him so we could discuss whether I needed any medication or other supplementation.

Good luck!

Order or go to a bookstore and buy the book "Taking Charge of your Fertility" by Toni Weschler!!! I also thought that just having the occasional sex would get me pregnant, but this book seriously taught me more about my own body and the science of womens' ovulation than I ever thought there was to know. We tried for a few months with my first and nothing, and I was worried because I was so young (29/30), but after I started tracking my cycles and taking my BBT (basal body temp) it worked instantly. Same thing with number two. Not every woman's monthly cycle is the same, so it's important to get to know your own before you are even trying seriously, so you know when your most fertile days are. With our second child, I wasn't nearly as consumed with the idea or worried about it, and it happened on the first try! So relaxing and letting go as much as possible helps, too. Good luck!

Keep track of your cycle. If your cycle is regular length (say 28 days, count from the first day of your period) have sex every other day on day 7-14 and see if that works.
If it doesn't you may want to put in a bit more effort into it as in charting your temp or using ovulation kits to pinpoint your average ovulation better. You should have sex before/during ovulation to achieve pregnancy.

Also you can get a good book, such as "take charge of your fertility" to learn more about interpreting your body's signs.
Good luck.

We used the book "taking charge of your fertility". I started out by watching my body signals. I didn't want to have to take my temperature every day if I didn't have to. By learning the changes other than temp, we were able to get pregnant the first try both times. The first time we had sex every day for 4 days and had a beautiful boy. The second time we had sex one time and had a beautiful girl. There is no way to guarantee boy/girl but they do say boys swim quicker but girls last longer. It worked for us. =)

I'm sure others will have good answers for this, but my best resource for this was "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" (there's a book, and the website - http://www.tcoyf.com/), which offered very concrete information about the physical signs of fertility, etc.

Look into www.fertilityblend.com. It's a vitamin supplement with the active herb "chasteberry" or "vitex." It has been clinically proven to balance all those hormones necessary for a pregnancy to occur. I used it with both my kids, cuz my cycles were irregular, and I got pregnant within 6 weeks both times! Check out the website. You can pick up a bottle at GNC stores or RiteAid. Good luck!

First you need to keep track of your cycle , mark down on a calendar or in your diary the day you get your period , then 10-14 days after the first day of your period is when you will ovulate and is the best time for you to concieve. If you have sex on those days then you have a good chance of getting pregnant. You can buy ovulation kits and things like that but I didn't bother with those. If you have a regular cycle (28-30 days) every month then you will ovulate around the same time.

Good luck!
