Teacher Gift

i think gift cards are the way to go. if you want to add a little creativity, make a movie basket/gift bag with a blockbuster gift card and microwave popcorn and couple candy bars. having been a teacher myself, baked goods are thoughtful but there are too many around over the holidays; candles are cliche; lotions and the like are cliche as well. ( : although gift cards seem kind of un-creative these days, just adding a note of sincere appreciation makes them a thoughtful gift. yes, starbuck is overdone unless you know the teacher loves coffee. barnes and noble or borders are great places for gift cards.

My daughter is in 7th grade and has about 10 teachers. I usually give $10 Starbucks cards.

This year, when I was Godiva chocoloate shopping, I found some really cute milk chocolate Santa's for $6.50 each. I bought a dozen Santa's and for the teachers that she LOVES, I am adding a Starbucks card in the bag.

pre-k teachers are just like regular teachers and love things for their classrooms. Something we've done in the past is give them a class gift of a picture of the kids in their class with all the kids signing their names to the picture frame on the mat, or getting all the parents together and getting a joint gift certificate from a favorite store or a school supply store. Wal-Mart or Target are always great choices. Also some place like Outback or Chili's are some of the other favorites of our teachers. Have your child draw them a picture or paint their hand on clipboard and then clear varnish it so it can't be ruined. Simple and priceless. Anything you would love from your child - a teacher will love also. Just don't stress about it. Also something we've done at my child's school is ask the teachers to make a book with a sheet that lists every person that works there - and on the sheet it has their birthday, their favorite drink(s), places to eat,shop and to decorate their houses with. That is extremely helpful at gift time.

Hi G....many people would probably recommend you get a gift card of some sort...but why don't you try something different...I like to make my own christmas gifts to the teachers...try maybe filling-up a basket full of pencils, markers, stickers, things that you might think a teacher would like...and then try to have your child make a christmas card with his little hand for his teacher...or something like that...be creative!!!!

If everything else fails...gift card is the way to go...ha ha!

Oh at bath & body they have these apples that are candals that smell real good. And they are on clearance for like $6. I just saw them there on Tues. That would be cute, even to buy and save for teacher appreaction day in the spring. For XMAS anything is nice. I used ( when teacher) to get gift cards with some cookies, or coffe cups with starbuck gift card. Bath & Body gift sets. One time I had a parent make me this real sweet poem about teachers then framed it and the vhild but his hand prints on it. It was perfect. It made me cry. It was so thoughtful and I hung it up in my room. That is cheap and perfect. Find a peom on the internet and have your son paint it or handprints and them put it in a nice frame.

My two yr old son goes to a school at church. He has a teacher and a teacher's aid. I gave them each a teacher-themed ornament and wrote "Love, Austin" on the bottom with permanent marker. Then I gave them a $10 gift card to Starbucks. I wrote a card letting them know how much I appreciated the work they have done with my son and the patience and love they have shown. Small gift, but I just wanted to let them know how much I appreciated them.

I know there isn't much time but from some of the feedback I have heard from teachers they are tired of mugs, candy, pencils, and other random small things they get in abundance. Every year I get all of the parents together in my sons class and whoever can donates money to a gift card for the teacher. His teachers have loved it every year because they can use it to put back into the classroom. I would suggest maybe just a visa gift card or a gift card to walmart or mardels.

As a preschool teacher myself, I love gift cards. However, everyone suggests Starbucks and I don't drink coffee. I understand they have other drinks, but how much hot chocolate can you drink! So keep other things in mind too. Target is a favorite. Or how about McDonalds? Even without my son, it's one of my favorite places.
My other idea is the one my son and I did for his teachers. We made cookie mix jars. It's all the dry ingredients to make cookies in cute jars. We did it last year and it was a big hit, so we did different cookies this year.
I hate to say it, but I hate candles. I'm very picky about what candles I have at home and really don't have many because I have a 4 year old and a cat who would be very interested in them. So I can't recommend them.
Lotions are always a hit too. With all the hand washing teachers do, our hands are always dry!

I bought reed diffuser air fresheners when they were on sale at Kohls. (3 teachers to buy for) We are also making mini bundt cakes to wrap up for each teacher. Three to a pack and tie them up with a candy cane. I think that anything is appreciated. It really is the thought that counts. My limit is usually 10.00 per teacher. Merry Christmas

As a teacher, I appreciate anything any of my students get me but some of my favorite gifts have been teacher ornaments. I know my son's teacher loves coffee so we're getting her a gift card for a local coffee place.
It's just so special when our students think about us so I'm sure your sons teacher will be appreciative and grateful for whatever you choose.
