Switching Formulas - Dallas, TX

My daughter is currently on Similac Alimentum and I would like to switch her to something more cost effective such as Enfamil Gentlease or Nestle Good Start with comfort proteins. What would you suggest? Also how do I go about switching formulas?

What can I do next?

Several of my friends recommended Good Start to me when my son was having issues with Similac. It made a HUGE difference - you could tell he was feeling better almost immediately! I really recommend it - he did great on it - has been very healthy. Good luck!

J.,

I had samples of several different formulas when my daughter was born. Some were it travel packs, smaller containers, etc. The kind of formula I bought to use was Parent's Choice (Wal-Mart), or the Kroger brand. Her first few months, she had similac, enfamil, parent's choice, and one other kind. I didn't know you were supposed to stick with one kind. I just thought they were all pretty much the same thing. I didn't reasearch it much before she was born because I thought I would breastfeed, but my milk never came in. And I didn't think to look it up later, because she was fine. Anyway, she never had any problems at all with the switching, so I think you could probably just switch over and she will be fine, if she hasn't had tummy issues in the past. The only thing I would make sure is that if you have milk-based, switch to milk-based, soy-based to soy-based.

I used Good Start for my 1st and it was a life saver. As with any product. It will work well for some but not on others.
We did alot of trying before we found what worked best for her. Good Luck!

We switched twin girls to gentlease from Pro Sobee and it was fine. We didn't do any half and half mixing etc we just switched it and it was fine. Neither twin skipped a beat.

Just switch. Make sure you only switch brands not types of formulas. I used all the expensive brands with my first and the Walmart brand with my second. They are both very healthy children. They are all the same thing because they are regulated by the FDA. Go with the least expensive.

Depending on the reason why she is on Alimentum, there are various ways to go.If she was colicky, she should be fine on Gentleease or Good-Start.Try to avoid Soy at all costs b/c usually this makes babies constipated-especially after being on Alimentum. If,however, she had blood in her stool and a true milk allergy you need to discuss it with your Pediatrician or Gastroenterologist.

My pedi highly recommended Nestle Good Start. I breast fed for 6 months and started to supplement with formula at four months. We use Good Start with Natural Cultures. The proteins are broken down making it easier for babies to digest. It has worked very well for us. Good luck!

I had my daughter on Alimentum and I switched her to Enfamil Gentlease, but the Wal-Mart brand of it (Parents Choice). She does great on it. I gave her some of the Enfamil brand one time over 2 days for some reason, can't remember what now...but anyways, she was miserable. So I stuck with the Parents Choice Brand. I've heard both are good for sensitive babies.
You could do half and half of each formula in her bottles for a day or so, then just completely switch her over. I never did that, I just switched her to the other formula without mixing the two kinds. It will take her a week or so to get used to it as far as her system goes, then again she may take the switch just fine.
Good Luck!

I would be careful with Nestle Good Start. I have had two friends with children who weren't thriving on Good Start and both doctors told my friends it was the formula. Both said they did not recommend Good Start at all.
