Suggestions on Forumla

I recently had to put my little one on formula as my frozen supply has dwindled. We are still bf'ing need to supplement. I tried Soy based but he projectile vomited after intake. My first son was supplmented with soy and took it no problem. He did same with Similac Organic. Has anyone else experience this type of issue and do you have any suggestions. The pedi said that he may have trouble breaking down the proteins.

Thanks so much

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Thanks for all the advice ladies. My little one take 2 bottles a day at daycare of the similac alimentum. Yikes is this stuff super expensive. I'm going to try Good Start in a couple of weeks to see if he his able to change. But i know that we have to supplement as my supply is not enough for this little eating man of mine! Again thanks for everything.

I use the Similac Sensitive ORANGE label, not the RS. The milk proteins are broken down. I started it when after Aiden went on combo BM and bottles, and he did fine. The regular Similac was too hard on his belly. Good luck!

My daughter did the same thing. Our Dr switched us to Similac Alimentum and she hasn't thrown up once :) Her stomach was a mess (the Dr said it sounded like there was a war going on in there, she let me listen and her description was pretty accurate) and needed a formula that was a bit easier for her system to handle.

J.,

If you can, try mixing the formula half-and-half with BMilk to start your little one off. I too recommend the Good Start brand. My kids were all BF and that was the only formula they would ever take without a fight. Good luck!

I would google "soy formula" and "phytoestrogens". There is alot of talk these days about limiting boy's soy intake.

My SIL had the same problem, and after trying 3 different formulas decided to just keep breastfeeding. Her little one stopped having problems.

Good luck! :)

try Nestle Good Start- I recommend (if you can find it) the original, "purple can" formula. Most grocery stores no longer carry it but Babies R Us usually does. Good Start has broken-down proteins so it is gentler on the tummy. The original version does not have additional DHA added- the newer version with DHA tends to bother their tummies more. My daughter had trouble on many formulas till we found the original formulation of Good Start.

My son has had terrible reflux and when I would have dairy and nurse him it was much worse, so when I use formula with him to supplement or in his cereal my pediatrician suggested Nutramigen by Enfamil. It is crazy expensive, but he likes it and it doesn't make him spit up any more than he usually would. We have assumed that he has a milk protein allergy, and I am about to have him have bloodwork to check. I hope this helps!

similac alimentum is supposed to be good for babies that are having issues with regular and soy based formula. go to walmart, sams,bj's costco or whereever you do your bulk shopping. good luck, hope this helps.

We used Infamil Gentlease and it worked out for us. My little girl used to vomit until we switched to this one. Good luck!
