Sweet 16 Birthday Ideas

The thing in our family are diamonds! When we turn 16 we get a pair of real diamond earrings (studs), for 18 we get a diamond ring (kind of like a little promise ring), and when we turn 21 we get a diamond necklace. My Grandmother had this when she was growing up all the way through me. I plan on doing this for both of my girls also. It is something that will last forever and they will always remember getting those special peices of jewlery ontheir big birthday! Hope you find something perfect for your daughter that will make her birthday extra special!!!

How about a Spa birthday where she can "fluff and bull" with all the options they have mani, pedi, highlights, massage, etc

We had her invite two friends to spend the day with her. Then we had bought gift cards to a few of her favorite stores, and a couple smaller ones for her friends. Then we had hired a limo to take them to a mall and have their own little shopping spree.

We also gave her a gift certificate to a restaurant in a outdoor shopping area where alot of young people go. So, it was a really big deal when they pulled up in front of the restaurant and got out of the limo. They felt like movie stars and everyone wondered who they were! She had a blast...definitely memorable!

Depending on her interests - how about a big girls' night out. Dinner, concert, hotel stay (you in the adjoining room). Or a group of her friends go to the "spa" for a treatment, then a nice dinner/hotel....ONLY if this interests her. Maybe get a few good ideas and give her the choice. Happy 16 to her!

Would she love a limo to pick her and two friends up and take them out to dinner with you and family or just the 3 of them........depending on how your household rules.

How about a ring? Either a birthstone ring or something else. When I turned 16 I got a Sapphire Star set in white gold. I loved it!

go to halmark and find a 16 yr old bday card the one I got my son said something like this is what the picture on you liscense is going to look like and when you open it up it was a picture of a monkey. he laughed and got mad at the same time. we got him a cake with cars on it. Get her a poster of her dream car and tell her its her new car. my mom was warped and did that to me got me a ferrari. but it was funny and I remebered it. oh mom give her the keys and a little later curfew for the night.

OMG, a lot of OVER The Top ideas!!! What will they expect when they are 18 or 21?!!? (and I swear I am not that old!!)

My parents filled my bedroom with 16 helium ballons (with weights on the bottoms) all spread out which looked pretty cool. I was also handed an application for a part time job. If I wanted to drive, I had to help pay for the insurance. Builds character & kids need that these days.

Love the Spa ideas some had as well or maybe a family (with a couple friends) overnight at a local hotel. Then your daughter can visit the local mall (if close by), or go to the movies & do a little swimming. Good times with friends and you are close enough to enough her happiness!

Our daughter will be 16 in Dec. We are having a blowout party. She LOVES dancing, DJ's etc and we do have 1-3 of these parties a year but for her 16th we are doing it bigger and better.

We'll have more kids, the DJ, dancing, door prizes/contests, NO GIFTS.

She is getting a car (not brand new....the one I've driven for 3 1/2 yrs...but VERY nice and safe) and hand me down diamond studs that i've saved for her as well as a diamond cluster ring my dad gave me when I turned 16.
