Sweaty Armpits!

Does anyone have any suggestions for sweaty armpits? It seems as though when I get nervous, my right armpit sweats excessively. I bought the Dove Prescription Strength deoderant and it does not seem to be helping. I have a couple of events coming up and I am afraid my sweaty armpit will show through my clothes. Is is better to wear a dark color or light color to make it less noticeable? Thanks in advance! S.

I think Secret has a prescription formula. My best friend, also a S. swore by it. She had this problem after having her baby. It worked well for her.
Good Luck. And, try not to worry too much, because people probably won't notice as much as you think they will.

Hi S.
try cutting out caffeine, it worked for me. Also, you can buy shirt protectors at Joanne's fabric stores. They work just like a panty liner.

Good luck!

I like Secret Flawless. It works great for me! I've also heard about putting panty liners in your shirt to absorb the extra sweat.

I have a friend who had this problem and it was very severe for her. She got botox injections under her arms and it completely solved the problem. It was less than $100 total and she has not had to use any deoderant for at least 6 months now... its not a permanent fix as you have to repeat the process every 8 months or so but she swears it was the best thing she ever did....

i have them too... although, i just reacently decided that i will not use anti-perspirant anymore (there is a possible link to breast cancer and also the aluminum contributes to alzheimer's). i used to use mitchum which was great. now i use arm & hammer naturals.. it's not so bad. just remember that sweat is normal and natural.

Go stylish honey (this coming from the chick who just posted about being frumpy...lol). What about a half-jackets, sweaters - kind of like shrugs - so it'll look like you did it on purpose while hiding your little secret. That way you aren't stuck in a sweater or jacket all night long and can rest assured nothing shows whether dark or light. My guys sweats terribly all the time - it runs in his family - and I notice that if he is wearing something lighter colored it doesn't show as much and I often don't know until I hug him. Black seems to be the worst. Maybe a white shirt with a black, red, or navy blue shrug?
Also men's deoderant tends to be stronger - perhaps try something in that line in unscented? Be careful with too much experimentation as it can lead to breakout. Best of luck and let us know how it goes!

I buy "Certain Dri" it's a 72 hour protection. You put it on before bed. I haven't had a problem since. You don't put on anything in the morning then. I only have to use it every other night, and it works great.

Thanks for asking, S.! I have the same problem - right side, too! I don't have an answer for you, but I'm reading the suggestions you're getting.

I did recently learn one thing about laundering clothes with sweat marks - bleach makes them more yellow, so don't use Clorox. The best thing is to let the sun naturally bleach the clothes. Come this spring all my whites are going out on the line!

Similar to some other suggestions, I had breast pads (Lansinoh, I think) left over, and I pinned one into each shirt/jacket that would show sweat. I'd love to try out something made for that purpose, tho.

So weird- I have the same problem, my right. Especially after I had my son. I use Mitchum (Strong) I only use it once or twice a month bc of the aluminum in it. It supposedly causes alzheimers.

Another plug for Certain Dri. You can find it at Bartells. I had a terrible problem with sweaty armpits but Certain Dri takes care of it completely. I only use it every other night and I just don't sweat anymore. Its a life changer.

You MUSt try Certain Dri. This is a deoderant you put on at night and it helps to stop your glands from sweating. I had the exact same problem and after a few weeks of use I was no longer sweating on my clothes. It is an AMAZING product!! It is about $7 but well worth it. You can find it in the deoderant aisle. Just DO NOT put it on right after shaving, of which it says on the bottle, it BURNS!! Good Luck!

Try sticking a pantyliner in the armpit of whatever shirt you wear to absorb the moisture.

I wear a sweater or a jacket when i have an important event and want to avoid visible sweat marks. I also have a light colored mostly cotton button-down shirt that seems to work alright. (Silk and rayon are horribly revealing in this case.)

I don't know if you got this already but they make armpit cloths (I don't know the right word) I think you can get them at Victoria Secrets.

I use Certain DRI. You wear it at night. After like 3 days of using it you will notice a huge difference.

Good Luck!

The amount of sweat a person has is usually genetic but it can sometimes signal a health problem. I would check with your doctor to rule out any possible health issues (especially because only your right pit is sweating excessively). They might be able to help you with a prescription deodorant.

In the mean time, have you tried dress shields? I've never used them, and they are probably old fashioned, but I did a quick search on Google and found many different versions are still being sold. Good luck! :-D

I had this problem DAILY, and found a miracle cure in Secret Clinical Strength. It's another kind that you put on at night, but can be applied in the morning if that works better for your routine. Both have worked for me, and I had a huge problem with this before.

It's more expensive than regular antiperspirant, but SO worth it!

Good luck.

I have the same problem and I have tried the clinical strength stuff and there is no difference other than the fact that it costs a whole lot more. What i use is a mens unsented speed stick. It is made for sweaty men and it works really well and not near as expensive and those others
