Deoderant Brands That Work for You??
Help!! This is kind of personal, but can anyone recommend a good anti-persperant/deoderant? I've been using Dove and by the end of the day I am stinky!! I've tried my husband's manly deoderant and seems to work better... but I don't like smelling like the island of Fiji all day long. I would like to find one that works so that I actually smell like my perfume instead of what brand of deoderant I'm wearing or worse yet like my boys stinky socks!!
Thanks!!
So What Happened?™
Secret Clinical Strength (and a little bit of the powder combo corn starch with baking soda) is working great!! Thank you ladies!!

Sounds like Degree Clinical or Secret Clinical will work best for you. For some reason after I had my daughter my hormones changed and nothing was working so I shelled out the extra money for the Secret Clinical and I LOVED it. My hormones I guess became normal again so I don't have the need for it anymore but it definitely worked.

I see you've had plenty of responses but for my two cents I use Arrid. I sweat excessively but I don't have the $ for clinical/prescription deodorants. I like that it's not cakey, and there are some neutral/fresh scents so I don't smell like a man OR too perfumey.

I tried many brands before I found one that stuck with me all day. I like Mitchum. If you look around, you can find it in a no residue solid instead of the gel. But not everyone carries it in the solid.

I'm a breast cancer survivor and during radiation therapy I couldn't wear deodarant! OMG! They told me to use corn starch and baking soda. That old stuff really works. I suggest you use whatever deodarant you have but put a mixture of baking soda (50%) and cornstarch(50%) in a bowl and get a cheap makeup brush and brush it under your arms and you can also use it as a body powder. It works great on my son and my husband. It truly takes the stink out and it only costs $1.50. God bless.

Hi S.. I have tried several in the past. Now that I am an Avon representative, I decided to try ours. I really like the On Duty and Cool Confidence. I must say, ours is less expensive than any retail in-store brand and seems to work just as well for me.
You can see our whole line by visitng my site www.youravon.com/mtaylor-brown and in the search box type in "deodorant."

I have to switch every few years. Your body adjusts to the deodorant and it stops working. In the past I have used with good luck for long periods of time: Degree, Arm & Hammer, and Secret. I just switched back to the new Secret Clinical Strength (or prescription, whatever it is.). It isn't super hot here yet, so I am not sure how well it will work once the muggy summer hits, but I have been happy with it so far.

You might just be stinky because your body got used to that deodorant and it no longer works on you. I had that happen after many years of using Degree. You may just need to switch brandsI have been using Secret Fresh Water Orchid and I smell pretty :)
Good luck!

I feel your pain. I used mens deodorant forever until I discovered a few secrets... One is that you need a deodorant that is an anti-perspirant- I know degree is one and Mitchum is too. Two is that when you shower use an anti-bacterial soap to wash your armpits.
If sweating is an issue I would suggest certainDri (the have a website you can look it up). It works great if you are sweaty :)

I use Degree - I love it. I have the opposite problem - I don't sweat enough, so I turn almost purple and I get terribly, terribly overheated. So, I think I'd trade!!! Anyway, I use Degree because I like the mild scent. However, my girlfriend sweats like crazy and uses it and loves it. They have a clinical strength one too.

Especially in the Texas summers, right!? I switch between the different clinical strengths buying a different brand each time (I go back and forth between 3 or 4) and that seems to help me a lot. Good luck!

I had the same problem and I switch between brands. I use soft & dry and ban deodorant. I used to use secret but they added the olay moisturizers and it quit working for me. In the summer time I will put on dove deodorant before I go to bed since I tend to sweat at night. Good luck!

hello S. . my name is Bea and I'm an avon rep. I have been for the last 18 years. I never used their roll-ons until about 2 years ago. I love them and would not use anything else. You might want to give them a try. There are about 20 different scents to choose from. Call me if you are interested and I can let you try them before you buy. They are wonderful.

I never imagined what stinky armpits I'd have. Drives me crazy. I have found best to use an antibacterial soap, shave, then soap and scrub some more. If they are still that way after bathing, I'll dab some alcohol on them. I then use baking soda as like a powder and then use the Arm & Hammer deodorant.
Still not perfect, but I can almost make it a day without starting to stink.

If you have trouble with sweating ask your DR about Drysol, it's a topical roll on you use at night. I use to sweat and stink so much I'd ruin my clothes....I started using Drysol and I don't sweat under my arms, it's AWESOME.

S.-- I have tried different brands over the years and keep coming back to Ban roll-on unscented. It's hard to find non-perfumed brands, and this one just works. The solid that works for me is Secret unscented, which I switch to when I travel so I can carry it on without putting it in the 3-1-1 bag. It worked for me even in the rainforest! Good luck!

I have been in your shoes, and tried every woman's deodorant out there. I too wore my husband's deodorant (not fun and still didn't work)
I probably spent over $100 and two years trying to find a deodorant that kept me from stinking. Finally, Secret came out with clinical strength deodorant and I tried it, with doubt, of course. It actually worked! Of course, Secret may not be the brand for you, but there are other brands out there that might work better for you.
I hope this helps. J.

I use Certain Dri at night right before bed, then use something like Dove, Secret, etc. in the morning.
It's important to use the Certain Dri at night.
I do agree with switching brands every once in a while.

I recommend Old Spice soft solid; it has the highest percentage of the Active Ingredient (even more than the "clinical strength" labels). They have a non-scented version. But I do have to be careful when putting on dark shirts that the deoderant, if freshly applied, doesn't transfer.

I've had to switch to the Clinical Strength brands (Dove or Secret both seem to work well). The Secret seems to be a little more difficult to get off in the shower, but seems to work a little better for me than the Dove at times (like after a workout). Both are a bit expensive, but well worth not smelling myself halfway through the day.
Good luck!

I like using the Dove clinical strength. I see that a lot of brands have their own clinical strength versions. I like Dove the best though - my underarms do the best with it. I tried the same thing as you...I used my husband's deoderant, which was fine at first - but I got sick of smelling like a man too!

I alternate Secret Clinical strength sport and the Secret clear gel. I alternate them becuz it seems like my armpits develop an immunity to the clinical strength by the time I run out. Also get one that's not fruity scented. I got the pear solid last time to try it out and I felt stinky the whole time. The degree clinical strength smells like Raid bug spray! Yuck.

The key is alternating your brands. If you use a brand for too long, it stops being effective. I like to alternate between Degree, Dove, and Secret. They stay effective and they make a lot of subtle and unscented products, available at Target. good luck! :)

Ban!!! It's just as strong as the "prescription" strength and it's not even advertised that way.
