Sunscreen That Doesn't Sting

I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a good sunscreen for babies that doesn't sting the eyes. My son is 16 months and sweats a lot. When I put sunscreen on him (I'm using the Coppertone for babies) it inevitably ends up in his eyes because he sweats so much and then the poor little guy starts rubbing his eyes and making it worse. Can anyone suggest a brand that doesn't sting???? Thanks so much in advance!

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone for all the responses. I tried the Blue Lizard for Sensitive Skin and this one seemed to work really well for my son. I could put it on his face and he didn't seem to have a problem, plus, its really nice and thick too so he was well protected. Thanks all!

Have you tried using the coppertone water babies stick? IT looks like a glue stick and it makes it easier to get in those hard to reach places. My son also sweats a lot and because it's a solid and not a liquid he hasn't had a problem since we switched. I use the regular block on most of his body and save the stick for his face.

A.,
Best bet will be to go with something as safe as possible, thus eliminating many of the harmful ingredients that are typically found in many sunscreens and blocks today, even baby ones.

Here's a great site that give you a rating for personal care products and also gives you a list of ingredients. I would strongly recommend anything listed with a score of 1.

Arbonne was not rated, but I do know that their products are wonderful. I have used many of their baby products before.

Aveeno as a whole is a great line. However their sunscreen I would be cautious about using

Hoping you find what you need.

I think that anything that is made by Aveeno is excellent.

I swear by "baby lizard" made by the same as blue lizard. A pediatric dermatologist told me to use it because it does not soak into the skin (it is a formulation of zinc oxide) but the white does go away. It is safe for their sensitive skin and my son has never had a problem with it getting into his eyes. It used to be sold exclusively in dermatologist offices, but CVS has started carrying it though I had to go to a couple of CVS's to find it. One more plus for me is that it doesn't have that "sunscreen" smell, I am still sensitive to smells and can't stand that sunscreen smell most of them have.

Huggies now has sunscreen out. We have used it on our son a few times already this year ( he also sweats a lot ) and so far he has been very good. The sunscreen is in an orange bottle. I hope this helps

My daughter was also having troupble with Sunscreen in her eyes... right now we switch (whichever is closest at the time) between BananaBoat for Babies, Kiehl's for Babies and California Baby with no trouble.

I use a sun screen from my company that doesn't have some of the harsh ingredients in it and is sweat proof and water proof. I can't say it won't sting for sure as I never had it get in my eyes but, it is from Melalueca and you can check out there sight. There are other childrens items that are healthy as well. www.melalueca.com email me if you would like more information on being a prefered customer and saving 30% on all the products they offer.

Hi,

Banana Boat makes sunscreen for kids that claims to be "tear free". I just bought it and have only used it once, so I can't say for sure that it won't sting, but didn't have any problems with it.

I use coppertone clear mist spf 50. Put his sunglasses on and then tell him to shut his eyes really tight and spray a quick mist. It dries super fast and is sweatproof (even though a lot say they are and aren't this one is)!
