Stokke or Svan Highchair?

Hi Moms,
Do any of you have a stokke or svan high chair? What are your thoughts? What made you choose between the two as they seem like they are fairly similiar.

Thanks!

I looked at the Stokke and Svan. However, I went with the Keekaroo. It has a for leg base that I felt with my "rocker" would offer more stability. They are all pretty similiar, though not all will support your child for as long (weight limit). There is also the Special Tomato Height Right chair.

You can also do a google search on reviews and the name of the chair.

FYI, I bought mine on ebay through a certified Keekaroo vendor and saved money not only on the chair, but did not have to pay taxes, since it was out of state AND free shipping!

Good Luck, If you have questions, feel free to private message me.

I have the Svan and really like it. My son is two and I am just about to take the tray off and start using it as a chair. The only think that I would recommend is getting bibs with a pocket on them. There is a gap between my son's chest and the tray so food will often fall on his lap. Good luck.

We had the same debate and the decision came down to price and the tray. We have been using the Svan for almost a year and we love it. As other people have said, having the option of the tray was critical when she first began eating.

Also important was the wooden guard on the Svan, which the Stokke does not have. We have a very active little girl and having her be contained in the wooden area made a big difference - she didn't just try to wiggle out of the harness.

We have now removed the tray and the wooden seat guard and i love that she can climb up to eat on her own. She eats at the table with us and is truly a part of meals.

We also have the cushion set, which I also like as it helps preserve the wood. I just throw them in the washer every week or so. They have really held up well through multiple washings.

Another thing I love is that the chair matches our black/brown dining set perfectly. We get lots of comments on the chair, how cool it is and how good it looks. But aside from the aesthetic benefits, it is a great way to involve her in our family meals and I love that I won't have to buy a booster or any other chair for her as she grows.

I registered for the Kettler Tipp-Topp High Chair. It has the same look as the Svan and Stokke. It can be a big kids chair later on too. It comes with a tray, plus the seat & foot rest are adjustable to fit your table.

We had originally wanted the Stokke, but began to re-think it because of the lack of tray. We ended up getting the Anka. It's made by Svan, but is less expensive and a little less bulky. It's wooden, has a pop-off plastic tray, comes with a padded seat and, best of all, it FOLDS. The tray is a little smaller than the bigger Svan, but it's worked out just fine for our 7 & 1/2 month old. Plus, we have dogs, so any Cheerios that have gone overboard are cleaned quickly, so the slightly smaller tray hasn't bothered us. :-)

We have had a Stokke tripp trapp high chair for the past 3 years. My son loved it. He sat in it from 6 months until about 2.5 years. My daughter will start using it in a few months. 2 reasons we chose - it pulls right up to the table so the baby was always eating with the whole family, not off to the side, and second, loved how it blended in with our furniture and was unobtrusive. Our son was never really a very messy eater, so having him at the table with us wasn't a big deal in terms of the mess. We didn't go with the Svan simply because I liked the look of the Stokke one better. Highly recommend the Stokke.

Hi M.,
I looked at both of those for my baby but ended up getting the Graco wooden high chair. It looks really nice, is significantly cheaper and also grows with your baby. My daughter is now almost 18 months and hasn't sat in the high chair since she was about 14 months old. She never really liked to be constrained so much during meal times (my older daughter was the same way) so I'm REALLY glad I didn't invest so much money. Good luck!
