Wooden High Chair.

I don't like the look of some high-chairs, either. If it's going to stay in my kitchen, not only does it need to function well, but I'd like it to go with my decor :) We had the Peg Perego Papa Prima and absolutely loved it. We have the Stokke Tripp Trapp, and love it. We didn't want a tray, because we wanted to be able to pull our daughter right up to the table with us. The one we have is the same wood and finish as our dining room table and chairs, so it matches perfectly. It's a chair that grows with her, so we don't need a booster seat later. We had the wooden Eddie Bauer high chair in dark wood. LOVED it. We don't have tons of space and all the plastic ones seem to have a larger foot print-folding and opening would have been annoying. We started using it with DS when he could sit up easily, so under a year old definitely. We might have added a towel or something to help with balancing in the beginning. We used it daily until DS was just under two years old. Then we purchased the Stokke Tripp Trapp chair-which I would also highly recommend as they do sell an infant attachment, but it is much more expensive.

I second the graco recommendation. We loved it and used it until our son was 18 months old - he's very tall for his age. I liked the look of the highchair and it cleaned up perfectly!

Hi I have the graco, it's all wood and has a clear tray over the wooden tray( easy clean up). My daughter is two and near had a problem with it being uncomfortable....it does come with a cream colored seat cover. Good luck

I have a wooden one that my MIL bought for my daughter when she was a baby. I hate it. I tried to sit her in it for a bit, and it is too hard, there is nothing to hold the baby from falling over. I used for about 3 days and bought a modern day, soft comfy, reclining high chair.

Seems to me like the most popular are the Tripp Trapp Stokke and the Svan. We went with the Svan for a couple reasons: The Stokke doesn't have its own tray - you use the table. Which is fine, but I wanted to be able to sit right in front of my baby. Also, I heard lots of complaints about the harness on the Stokke - that it would fall off baby's shoulders and stuff. We've enjoyed our Svan a lot. We bought the cushion to go on it to make it a little more baby friendly, and I would recommend doing that.

I love the Stokke Tripp Trapp. It does not come with a tray (although I think they finally offer one at an additional cost) so you just pull it up to the dinning room table and the baby/child sits with the family. I really like it's great quality, modern yet simple look, and that's it's a chair that grows with the child through adult hood. It's in the $250 price range so it's not for everyone. They sell a lot of add ons, but you really don't need it. I just have the rail, no cushions, trays, etc and have loved it for over a year.

We have the Svan and love it. No complaints whatsoever. Get the nice cushion. Also, is not so cumbersome and very subtle so doesn't add to the inevitable clutter. Taking plastic tray (BPA-free) off to clean is easy and sliding tray table portion back and forth is easy to get our daughter in and out. Love it.

Hi L., I have the Svan and love it! It is small and contained, so it doesn't take up too much space in our small home. You can use it with or without the tray, and when your child gets older, you can remove the surrounding restraint part and use it as a regular chair (for children or adults). Right now my daughter is 21 mos old and using the Svan at the table (without the tray). It's easy to clean and really nice looking.

I have one from Pottery Barn Kids that is similar to what you use in a restaurant (only nicer) no tray, pulls up to the table, deep espresso color that matches our dining room. We love it.

My sister just got one and the tray doesn't come off, just the plastic liner that goes on the tray. Make sure you read reviews online. She didn't know that that the tray didn't come off and is disapointed.

I have the Eddie Bauer one from Target and I really like it.

I also have the Svan and love it.. it is great because it grows with Baby and eventually turns into their own youth chair by taking off the high chair harness and tray table. The tray is also great because you can take it off and easily clean it or just leave it on and wipe off the plastic cover it comes with.
