Still Haven't Had My Period

Hello.
I am sure this is normal but I am starting to get a little nervous. My wonderful son is 7 months old. I breastfed full time for 3 months but had to start weening him off the breast (for the daytime feedings) when I went back to work. I just stopped all BF 1 month ago. I am on Progesterone only birth control. I still haven't got my period. Is this normal? I don't really like getting my period but I just want to know that everything is back in working order (and that I'm not pregnant). Any advice would be great!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Hi everyone.
Thanks so much for all of your helpful advice. I called my doc and she said that once I got on the "normal" BC pill my period would come back. I was still nervous so I took a test (actually 2 because I screwed up the first :) and I'm not pregnant. We really want a second child but I want to spend time with Jack first. Thanks again!

T.,

I breastfed my now 1 year old daughter, exclusively for six months and then only mornings and nights until she was eight months old. It took approximately two months after I stopped breastfeeding to get my period.

Sounds like Jack is lucky little boy!!!!

Don't worry, unfortunately, it'll be back!!!

I breastfed both my children and it took me approximately 3 months to get my period each time. When I did, it was pretty bad the first time around and then started to get back to normal. I wouldn't worry. All those those pregnancy hormones take some time to go away. If you are concerned, though, I would check with your doctor...can't hurt. :)

It is normal not to have your period but if it were me I would have a pregnancy test done anyway because I have a friend that had a baby boy last October and then wasn't having her period either so she took pregnancy test after pregnancy test and they all came back negative so she was going to see a doctor to have other tests done and she wound up being 6 months pregnant. She didn't have any other signs that she could be pregnant except the no period and she wasn't loosing any weight or gaining weight. She ended up having a little baby girl this October right after her son turned 1.
Hope things turn out the way you want them to and good luck.

I have a 9 month old little girl and I have the ParaGuard IUD. I breastfed until she was about 6 1/2 months. I got my period at the end of September, it was awful, and haven't gotten it again. This is a very different situation than my first. I always had my period after I had her, and I breatfed for 5 months. So, it may be normal and your body is taking awhile to readjust. But take a test if it puts your mind to rest.

It is probably normal. I didnt get my period for about a month or so after I stopped nursing and even after that, it took awhile for it to be "normal" again. There certainly is no harm in calling your OB/GYN. She would probably be able to ease your mind with one phone call. Also once you change your birth control, things might be different. Give your MD a call, so you will feel better sooner than later. Good luck :)

If it were me I would take a pregnancy test. I stopped breastfeeding during the day because of work as well, and only did the night time feedings, and my period came back. I'm not taking birth control, so you never know that might have something to do with it. If anything, call your doctor and let him/her know whats going on. But at least if you take the P/T you will put your mind at ease (I know it would rest my mind!).

I stopped nursing my son at 6 months. I did not get my period until he was 8 months. Every womans body is different. If your worried, just take a home pregnancy test. It will give you "peace of mind "

Its probably normal but just in case I would take a pregnancy test..... and call your doctor ...... You never know and they say after having a baby it is one of your most fertile times and the easiest time to get pregnant (that is why there is so many Irish twins :) )
