Stalker/Private Investigator?????

If you are not receiving e-mails, phone calls, etc. - it would most likely be the insurance company verifying your disability.

NEVER EVER drive directly to your home if you feel that someone is following you. Go to a public place - gas station, grocery store, etc. Note the make and model of the car, description of the person - if you have a cell phone with a camera - TAKE A PICTURE!!

Otherwise, I have NO IDEA why someone would be taking pictures of you. This is where OPSEC (Operational Security) comes into play. PAY ATTENTION to your surroundings...when you park in a parking lot - note the cars around you. People sitting in cars, etc.

Insurance companies typically send out an investigator is something seems "off". It doesn't sound like that is the case here.

This is VERY creepy. Please change up your routine a little bit in the coming weeks so that he can't predict your comings and goings. Keep a notepad in your car so that IF this person shows up again, you can write down the plate number and make/model of the car.

I'm not trying to pry here, but are you behind on any bills? I ask this ONLY because a former neighbor stopped paying her mortgage (for about 3 years), was behind on her utilities and other credit cards but was driving a brand new Mercedes and redecorating the house. One day I was outside chatting with a different neighbor and a guy pulled into their driveway and started taking pictures of the house and cars. My neighbor and I were creeped out by it and called another neighbor (police officer) who walked over and talked with the guy. He was an investigator for a debt collector. Technically he wasn't doing anything illegal and was trying to get pictures of the recent purchases to justify a lawsuit.

In addition to what they said, don't drive to your house when you think that someone might be following you. Drive on different streets or go to a public place. Do not take them directly to where you live!

I suggest you stop trying to figure out why. It doesn't sound like anything is happening that would cause a PI to investigate. And, I would be cautious but not frightened by this if this has only happened once.

I've had people take pictures of my house. I've taken pictures of yards. I would assume that this is not serious but be more aware for the next couple of weeks. If it doesn't happen again, I'd let it go.

Get the license number of any suspicious cars and call the police as they've suggested. And if you think someone is following you do not go home. Go to a public place where there are lots of people. Perhaps drive around a neighborhood making frequent turns to see if they continue to follow you.

For this instance, it sounds like this person, if he was interested in you, already knew where you live. He was waiting for you. But please consider that this could all be coincidental. I suggest that if he's a PI he's interested in a neighbor and not you.

To put to rest one of the ideas about reasons to be followed. Insurance would only be investigating your activities when you make a claim for disability and have reason to believe that you might be faking it. Your injury is recent and you're receiving medical care. Nothing to investigate there.

Also, if he were investigating you and a physical disability he would not follow you this closely. His goal would be to discover how you functioned. You could fake it if you knew he were watching. I suggest that this has a logical explanation and is not a safety issue for you. Just be watchful to be sure.

My husband is a photographer and he sometimes takes real estate pics of foreclosures. The lender needs verification that the homes are occupied. There is a chance your landlord is the one behind on his mortgage.

You are over reacting a little. It could also have something to do with your injury. It's unlikely someone wanting to hurt you would be so obvious. With no other signs of stalking there must be a reasonable explanation.

Are you on disability or workers comp? Many insurance companies for disability or workers comp will hire people to come out and see if you're really not able to perform the job that you're disabled from. Another option - is your fiance divorced or does he have an ex who could be stalking him or thinking he could be cheating on her with you? Last thing - have either of you been in a car accident in the last little while? Since he waited for you to come down the street he was either waiting for your or your car...
This was not a serious private investigator or he'd be using an expensive camera with a long lens and you probably wouldn't have noticed him.
It could also ahve been mistaken identity.

Keep note of this date/time/description of car & driver in case it's the beginning of something - document-document-document.

That's really creepy! Medicaid is barely staying afloat, so I highly doubt they have the resources to check up on anything and anyway, they have access to your medical records. If you had filed for disability, though, that very well could be related to who's following you.

It wouldn't surprise me if it was some PI trying to see if you're committing fraud. But whatever/whoever it is, make sure you stay completely aware of your surroundings staring like yesterday! I wouldn't go out after dark for a while. And if you see this guy again (or anyone else snooping or taking pictures), first thing you need to do even before you call the cops is note the license plate number and make/model of the car! Then call the cops and they can do what they need to do.

I seriously doubt it is the insurance co or medicade. This sounds weird. Are the people that own your place re-financing their house? It could be connected and I'd ask them to be sure, as doubtful as it is. If they were they'd probably tell you someone will be taking pics and now days they usually go into the house and take pics not just the outside.

I would keep an eye out. Take down the license # and call like you said. This may be some nut case or someone just thought it an interesting pic. I'd be leary of it.

If you see him again, you can take the bull by the horns by pulling over and taking pictures of the guy with your cell phone. If you can get his tag number and his face, that's perfect. Send them instantly to your fiance's email.

I'd limp right up to him and ask why he's been taking pictures of you and who he is.

But that's just me. Maybe it's a stupid idea if he's a bad person.

Sometimes when people do off-the-wall things, calling them on it makes them go find someone else to bother.

Scary! I'd be spooked too, and you did the right thing to be cautious.

I wouldn't think the insurance company this soon, especially since you are fresh off an injury and not filing workman's comp or something like that.

The only thing that makes legit sense is someone taking property pics for appraisel companies, etc. I have seen and confronted someone taking pics of my house and I was told it was for appraisels.

Other than that, assuming you have nothing going on online, etc or talked to strangers, etc... It is weird.

IF you see the car again, get the plate id, it is the best thing you can do so the police can follow up and ask questions and do not go home... keep driving but get the ##
