Spotting Between Periods- Perimenopause??

Hopefully not a tmi question! For the last few months, I've been spotting very lightly for a few days between each period. I'm so annoyed that I was just at the gyno and had a million other questions for him, so I forgot to ask about this! For the record, exam and pap were totally normal. I've been experiencing a lot of perimenopause symptoms, and I'm wondering if this is one of them? I'm 41. Anyone else experience this as a part of getting older? Thanks in advance for sharing! I'm trying not to worry about this, and I do need to call my gyno to follow up about his help with migraines, so I will mention it then...

What can I do next?

I had that happen a few years ago and asked my primary dr since that's who my next apt was with for something else. And she said it's not too abnormal but would still let your gyno know. Even if there is nothing that can be done to stop it it's good for them to know. Some drs would say change your pill if you are on one. Your hormone lvls could be off.

It could be several things - perimenopause, hormone shift, minor irritation, infection ... if there was an infection, it should show up on the blood, assuming you had a full physical.

My dr. also suggested a few home remedies
- eating yogurt with live cultures - Activia,
- making sure I have a super clean hygene routine (change towels frequently, bleach when washing sheets and underwear)
- increased exercise

I'm 52 and have not had any spotting between periods. I still am having regular periods, though my cycle has shortened by a few days. The only time I've had spotting was when I was on the Pill, and I needed to increase dosage slightly to stop it.

I started getting absolutely bizarre periods around 40-41. I am 42 now. I started getting a lot of spotting between periods, then I'd go a few months without them (I'm actually having the first period I have had in 7 months right now..grrr...I was hoping I was done!). I would have periods that only lasted 2 days. The worst was the one that lasted 3 weeks! That was the last one I had before this one that just started a couple days ago.
I've gone in for pages worth of blood tests, ultrasounds, the usual pap and an HPV test even. Nothing was wrong but all my blood levels were coming in as "post menopausal".
I am in a unique situation in that I am also breastfeeding my youngest at the moment. My OB won't call me post-menopausal until I've gone a full year without a period *after* she is 100% weaned. Traditionally they consider you post after you've gone a full year without a period.
But, that sounds exactly what I was going through for the better part of a year before my longest spell between periods.

ETA: I forgot to add that I am not on any hormonal birth control of any kind, we use Natural Family Planning. This is all happening naturally.

I spot sometimes when I'm ovulating. So right about mid month.

I thnk the short answer is, it could be anything, and it's probably normal.
The sad truth of women, periods and again. :(

I was spotting and it turned out I had a polyp, which they snipped right off and no more spotting. But if you had your appointment AFTER the spotting started, I think they would have seen a polyp. I'd give them a call and ask what it might be.
