my baby girl got a spinal tap at 1 month of age when i took her to the ER for a fever, they checked for menangitis. she is now almost 3 months and i am wondering since the spinal tap is like the epidural and i got that for labor pain and as a result my back always hurts now, is my babies back gonna permanently hurt for the rest of her life now too???
I had meningitis as a child and had a spinal tap. I have no back pain/problems at all. I also had an epidural 8 years ago and have no back pain from that either.
Hope your baby is doing better now. That sounds like it was a scary ordeal.

I just had a spinal tap in Octber and my back was sore at the site for a couple of days, but I have no lingering pain from it. I also had an epidural with my son, not to mention many nerve blocks higher up because of shingles.
I don't have any back problems as a result of any of them.
Check with your doctor. Your back pain could be caused by something else. I know that my chiropractor really helped me. My back was out of whack from my body trying to compensate from the weight of the baby and then adjust back after he was born.
Just a suggestion.

You should not have lasting back pain from an epidural - see a doctor as there is most likely another cause. No, your daughter should not have any long term issues from the CSF tap.
