I love love love killer whales. (orca) and would love nothing more then to take a dive with them. Does anyone know of a vacation spot where you can dive around orca? If so what does it cost. I know you can watch them at the San Juan islands off of Washington but I want something a little more extreme.

What can I do next?

Don't! Just don't. I can certainly appreciate your desire to, they are magnificent animals... But they are wild animals and should be left alone. Dozens of them are injured each year by irresponsible whale watchers as it is, their population is declining, their natural habitat is being degraded and crowded by human activity... If you really love them, spend your money towards an organization that helps them dnd leave them alone.

They are extremely dangerous. A few years ago one at Sea World killed his trainer although she was obviously experienced with Orcas and he was familiar with her. For liablility reasons, I can't imagine any reliable company or organization in the U.S. would do this. My husband loves them too and we were able to get pretty up close to them from the safety of a big boat in Alaska. With a good camera we got some amazing photos. Much safer.

My daughter has done every program under the sun available at Sea World (San Diego): Sleep away camp three summers, Trainer for a day, Dolphin Interaction program (five times), Dinner with Shamu and swim with a beluga whale.

Because of the death of the Sea World trainer by the killer whale, the trainers have completely minimized their time in the water with them. There is no way on this planet they will let someone swim with them. My daughter was in the water with them five years ago (on the Shamu shelf, not deep water!), it would never fly now.

My daughter loved swimming with the beluga whales and we have both loved swimming with dolphins (one of the greatest experiences ever!). I preferred Discovery Cove in Florida over the Dolphin Interaction Program at Sea World. It was much more like swimming in the open water.
