Son Needs a Physical.....
Okay, so my 7 year old son needs to get a physical before he can start football.. I want to warn him about what is going to happen.. Only I don't know what to say to him. I want him to know what is going to happen.. I'm totally clueless... Please help. Thanks.
So What Happened?™
Well he had the physical today. It went really well. THey didn't have to touch his boy parts so he was happy for that! Thanks for the wonderful advice. :)

When my son (now fifteen), gets his sports physicals at the doctor, they conduct it just like a "well child check-up". It's a normal physical, including the embarrassing quick peek in the underwear to make sure everything is normal. They are asked to push the doctor's hands away with their feet and hands, they get the little hammer to the knee response check, etc. Nothing invasive, although there have been times when it was time for another vaccination which he got while he was there.
One thing that embarrassed my now adult daughters whenever they got theirs was the spine check. You might remember it from being a kid - they have you bend over while they look at your spine from behind. Unbeknownst to me, both daughters always thought the doctor was looking at their bottoms when they bent over, not their backs! Luckily for my son, I eventually found out when the girls mentioned how they hated that part of the checkup, and I was able to let him know they are looking at his spine only, lol!

My son gets his every year. He's in 6th grade now. They will check his heartrate, ask questions, and have them do a few exercises to test mobility (walk like a duck, etc.) They will check blood pressure, too! Good luck!

Just tell them what they do. Or have your husband describe it, since he's a man and he knows the routine. And I recommend you or dad being in the room with him, as with all doctor's visits.
And of course don't make a big deal out of it to him or act worried or anything :)

Hey B., call the doctors office and ask what they do at a 7 year old level then you can give your son some good info before it happens.
