Some Recommendations Please

Hello everyone! I have 3 requests and thought I would bundle them all up in one package. We'll see how that works.

I am looking for a place or person to cut my 6 month old's hair. It's really long!! I heard of a place at Park Meadows Mall, but can't remember the name... and then there is a Jack and Jill place in Cherry Creek. Recommendations? Thoughts? particular stylists? THANKS!

Also, any thoughts on the Starfish swim school for the same 6 month old? (Or recommendations of others?)

Last, and most importantly, recommendations for a pediatrician. The last vist to mine was problematic because the staff was so incredibly rude. I want to check out some others and see if there is one I like better. Location is not that imporant to me - we are central to Denver. We are in the Wash Park area, so Cherry Creek is most convenient, but I am more concerned with getting a GREAT doctor than a great location. Currently we go to Rose (across the street). In addition to being a great doctor, I would like someone who communicates a bit more easily - such as emails or at least encourages questions when I have them. The last 2 questions I have asked mine were actually never relayed to her (staff told me they forgot) and she never called me back, and there is no other way to reach her.

Thanks very much!

What can I do next?

Took both of my children to Starfish Swim School for 3 years with the first and 1.5 with the second. Loved the teachers but the management at the time needed some customer service help. I know that isn't a huge help sorry.

Pediatric Pathways ###-###-#### All of the docs here are amazing. Location is close to the DTC but well worth our forty minute drive for appointments. I feel like they listen well, are thoughtful and very kid oriented. They always came to the hospital to see our babies as soon as they were born, including the ones that we adopted.

Jack and Jill at Park Meadows is good with little ones. They've been doing my daughter's hair since the first hair cut. I went to Lollilocks - also Park Meadows - one time, and didn't like them nearly as much - not as nice and more expensive.

My daughter has gone to Mallory at Jack and Jill - she's very nice.

Cherry Creek Pediatrics has a group of terrific pediatricians. We go to Dr. Richard Gustafson and we love him. The others are really terrific too, we have seen others on occasion. The number is ###-###-####

In response to your swimming question...I put both of my girls in ISR (Infant Swim Resource). It is an amazing program and teaches survival technique! I started my first daughter when she was 7 months old...she is now 2 and a great swimmer. My 10 month old just finished up and she can flip over in the water and float on her back all by herself. ISR is worth the time and money...you will be amazed at the results. Check out www.infantswim.com, watch the video!. You can find an instrutor in your area on that site as well.

WE see a family practitioner now instead of a pediatrician and we love him. We went to Cherry Creek pediatrics for our first child and loved both Dr. Mathie and especially Dr. Perry, but for emergency visits, you could only see the back up doctors who don't know you. With our family practitioner, who sees all 4 of us, he knows everything about us, he sees us whenever needed and we can call or page or email him whenever we need something. We like having a smaller practice with more access to the dr. His name is Peter Hansen, and he's located at Colorado Blvd just north of Yale Ave. ###-###-####. He has an excellent list of referrals for specialists and he's been great with our daughter who has special needs.

I don't know about the first two but I can recommend a fabulous pediatrician that the heaad nurse at Skyview also recommended... Nancy Cohen Carlson, MD 2121 South Oneida Street, Suite 200 Denver, CO 80224, ###-###-####. The whole staff rocks but this particular nurse is very personally involved.
Their office is in cahoots with Rose and Skyridge.

Hi M.,
I have to agree with the previous post. We too go to Shelby at Little B's salon on 22nd and Kearney and LOVE her! And, Dr. Brandon at Stapleton Pediatrics is our pediatrician and we couldn't be happier! The staff there is just wonderful, always helpful, always interested. My daughter was 6 weeks early and on oxygen for months. They were my rock because I was so scared and nervous all the time. They have a great website and they ALWAYS get us in the same day for illnesses. They are the BEST!! Here is the website link to check them out: http://www.stapletonpeds.com/
Best of luck,
B.

I have the best Pediatricians office on the planet. They return calls, they ALWAYS get you in same day, they are ALL nice, and like family! There is only one problem, they are on Parker and Lincoln. It would be about a 30+ drive for you. I drive 25 to get there but have never thought a thing of it since I have never found an office as great as this one.

There are two docs, Dr. Roos and Dr. Kalan, I prefer Dr. Roos just because that is who I started with at the practice. Everyone that brings you back is either a certified nurse or PA which is very unusual at any practice. I just love the practice and have been with them for 10 years with a perfect track record.

Good luck! Tell them T. Weaver sent you if you try them out.

We have been to both Cherry Creek Pediatrics and Partners in Pediatrics. I took my son to Cherry Creek for the first two years of his life. They were fine but I don't think I doctor shopped enough...I stuck with the same doc and eventually got frustrated as she didn't seem to be listening. Once I started trying other doctors I found one or two I cared for a little more (Rich and Laura) but by then I was just fed up with the practice. When my daughter was born, I switched our family to Partners in Pediatrics. There office (on Jasmine....not that far from Rose) is not as fancy and there call-back system is a little inferior (can take more than an hour) but I am 100% happy with our decision to switch. We have seen most of the doctors and have found several we connect with. I feel like they do a much better job of listening. My daughter had a few issues (food allergies and torticollis) in her infancy and I feel like they were caught amazingly early because the person we were seeing was so on top of things.....in tune with our child and really listening to us as parents. We love Danny Kamlet and another fellow named Ben. Both are wonderful.

Best of luck and I would highly recommend Partners in Pediatrics.

We go to Shelby at Little B's in Park Hill at 22nd and Kearny. She is awesome! She taught me how to do my daughter's hair during the session and I was so grateful because I have no clue when it comes to styling her thin hair.

We go to Dr. Noah Makovsky at Stapleton Pediatrics in Stapleton. He and his staff are awesome! We love every one of them. They have another male doctor, Dr. Brandon, and people rave about him as well and a new female doctor that we have met once and she was fabulous. I highly recommend their practice.

Good luck!
