Hi F.,
I have been taking Alli for 1 month. It works great if you really stick to a low fat diet. I follow the recommended 30% or less of fat at each meal and have had no side effects - with the exception of superbowl Sunday - I ate some not so healthy stuff (1/4 cup of chili cheese dip some chips a couple of slices of salami, a brownie and some chop salad) I spent the following Monday on the toilet. So... I learned that I must eat low fat or else!! ( I have not made the high fat mistake again) I hope this helps - MJ

PS: I have lost almost 10 pounds!

I have been using Alli for 2 weeks and have lost 5 of the ten pounds I would like to lose before we go to Cancun in 2 weeks, Yeah! I have seen lots of negative feedback on various website about diarrhea and oily discharge. (sorry to be graphic!) I only had a loose stool one time and that is after I ate more than the 15 gms of fat recommended. The instructions are pretty clear that if you go over 15 gms you will have unwanted side effects ie diarrrhea. So far it is working well for me and I will continue to take it until I loose my last 5 pounds. Good luck.

I've tried both, and neither was right for me. The ALLI actually constipated me, and caused (ew gross) 'seepage.' Plus, a lot of people who take it think they can eat whatever they want, and that just makes it worse. Hydroxycut is like having a bunch of coffee; since they took ephedra out of it, it's pretty useless. What ultimately worked for me was a prescription for phentermine from the Nutrition and Weight Loss Clinic in Naperville (you've probably heard the commercials for Dr. Guatam Gupta on the radio - they sound pretty cheesy, but they take an overall health approach, not just handing you a prescription.) I'm down 25 lbs, and don't have much further to go. Seeing the weight come off, and the extra engergy, have gotten me to be more active, so it's been an overall health improvement.

Best of luck!

I have not tried either, but I did some research on Alli. The reviews I have read (many of them) are very honest about it! Alli blocks the absorption of fat, and according to the reviews it really works. However, its best role in weight loss is to train you not to even eat any fat at all - because if you do, you'll pay for it soon after in the form of oily diarrhea. I recommend always doing a search for reviews on any product before buying it. Amazon.com has a lot of reviews. (Don't always trust supplement websites - I believe those reviews are often skewed to sell product.)

Personally I use the Slimquick Extreme pills (the reviews were the most favorable of any diet pill I found). I do believe they work, but I only take 1/3 the recommended full daily dose of six pills/day (so I take two in the morning only). At that dose they give me energy, but don't make me feel lightheaded or jittery. Also, I believe they decrease bloating (a big problem for me), because when I ran out after the first bottle, I didn't get another for a month and slowly started bloating back up. Since starting these pills back in November (along with working out 2-3 times a week), I have lost almost 15 pounds and 3 inches off my waist.

Do some research and find out what you think would work best for you! Each product will have a different effect on each person. If you know your body well, then trust your instincts! Good luck!!

Hi F.,

I don't know much about Alli but my company sells a weight loss product called Hoodia. Hoodia is a well known weight supplement. This product also contains Gymnema; Gynnema controls appetite and reduce sugar cravings. If you'd like to get more information, please visit:

I am currently taking Alli and have been having good results. I have not weighed myself since starting 3 weeks ago but I have noticed an big difference in how my clothes fit. BUT if you do decide on Alli FOLLOW the diet and watch your fat gram intake or you will be in for an unpleasant surprise. I only had one issue after I cheated and had something I should not have that exceeded the fat gram intake. It is a grerat motivator to keep following the diet. And other than the one incident I have had no adverse side affects.
Good Luck!!!

I have tried both and neither worked for me. Maybe ALLI didn't work because I crave SUGAR not fats, so I was always under in fat grams but still eating lots of junky stuff. I really didn't have side affects even when I did have lots of fat, so maybe it's just my body.

Hydroxy Cut worked for about 2 wks, then that stopped working too. So, sorry, not what you wanted to hear.

You can go in the archives on this request as there has been a few in the past...do NOT waste your money on either. Alli will cause diarreha b/c you will not be absorping fat..when you go off of it, you will put the weight back on...the buzz word for this year is FIBER! You need at least 25-35g of fiber per day...women get about 12-15...sad. If you are looking for a safe diet, go www.fiber35diet.com Hydroxy Cut will not work either. Both programs will tell you have to eat healthy and exercise...why not just do that without the pills. :) You'll see some good responses from the archives.

Good Luck.

I have not used either. I have heard that Alli can cause some cramping and diarrhea. I'm sure there's lots to read if you google either one.

Hydroxy cut did nothing for me, except give me the jitters. I now use a supplement that takes away cravings, speeds up my metabolism and is healthy. I am losing weight because my cravings are gone! The product is Figure 8.

I realize this is a late response, but I JUST got into a new weight-loss program, so thought I'd share...

There is a new nutritional program comprised of four natural products that is doing wonders in the weight loss field. So far there are people losing as little as 8 pounds a month and as much as 8 pounds a week, without changing their diet and lifestyle. They are just taking these supplements. It's pretty phenomenal - for anyone who wants to lose a lot of weight or maybe just a few more pounds...

The website to check out is www.justeatandlose.com, then click on the tab for the Core4 products.

Hydroxy cut didn't work for me. ALLI does work but the unpleasant side effects that they list do happen. It does make you watch the intake of fat which triggers these side effects (they list them on the bottle). I would get the starter pack because it comes with all kinds of helpful information.
