I hate the taste of coffee, Hubs got a Hamiliton beach single pot coffee maker for Christmas that he uses daily for his coffee, He thought he was being nice and bought cocoa K-cups for me to use in it. I can't get it to not taste like coffee.
I did try to google this first. I'm guessing maybe a vinegar rinse might be an option,... Does anyone else have any experience with this situation?? Is this normal? Do you have any tips? Will the vinegar do it or should i just throw the cocoa cups out?

I have use the hot water for tea.
I cleaned it and let the hot water run without any K-cup 2 times (with a mug in the spot to fill the 'dirty' water). The first time the water looks dirty with coffee the second, not so much. If you are really particular you can run it 3 times before putting the cocoa K-cup in.
If we run something other than coffee through ours, we run a cup through with just hot water to "rinse" it out and then run the cocoa or tea through it. So far, that has worked well for us.
I feel your pain. This is what we have at work and I drink tea not coffee. I do a quick wipe off of the place where the cup goes - inside and make sure you wipe underneath where the coffee drips out. Then I run through a large cup of plain water, then I make my tea.
if you're both using it frequently, and you can't stand a faint coffee flavor (or he can't stand a faint chocolate flavor) you need to get your own machine. you can clean your coffee maker with white vinegar, but if you're both using it frequently that's not very practical.
don't throw away your cocoa cups! request your own machine for valentine's day!

We just got an espresso machine, froth the milk, best hot chocolate ever. Any time the mechanism is going to be shared with coffee you will get that taste unless you clean the heck out of it before you make the cocoa.
I'd contact Hamilton Beach about this -- their web site for this model coffee maker might have a "frequently asked questions" type of page that covers it, or you can e-mail their customer service. I've had good luck doing this with other products when I had questions (though I haven't had to contact this particular maker).
I would add --if you cannot use these cocoa "pod" cups please don't just throw them out. Give them to a friend with a compatible coffee maker, or toss them into the car so that if you go to the hairdresser and they have this type of maker, you can give them the pods, or take them anywhere they can be reused. These days, our orthodontist's office, hairdresser, dance studio "parent area" and other service providers all have Keurig or Keurig-like single-cup makers. It would be a shame to throw them away if someone else can enjoy them, and you can tell your husband he made parents or patients or clients happy!
Do the vinegar but don't forget to rinse it too. I have single use Keurig and I use the K cups. We have zero problems with coffee tastes in our other drinks.
I use hot cocoa and cider and juices and do not have a coffee taste in them at all.
Purge with hot water. And every 3 months take out the pod holder and wash with warm soapy water. I wouldn'tthrow out and waste money on the cups.
Don't throw it out. Let the kids have it or save it for company.
If you are sensitive to the flavor of coffee, you should consider your own machine or only use it after a vinegar rinse, but that would be time consuming daily. If you are ready to throw the cups out, consider instead donating them, perhaps to your child's school or taking them to the office.
A tea drinker.
I can't even use a dishwasher-washed travel mug for tea if it's been used for coffee.
Maybe vinegar rinse of the coffee maker seems like a lot of trouble for hot cocoa.
Donate the cocoa cups.
Love my electric kettle for tea AND cocoa! No intermingling of tastes involved.
