Hi there,

Does anybody know if Mortgage company's give a break for single moms? Also, what about some of the private schools? Has anyone heard of them giving a break in the tuition for single moms? I have to move outside of the DISD, per my divorce decree, and need some financial help. If I choose to put my daughter in a private school within Dallas, I have to pay the expense.

Help!

What can I do next?

You might try Fannie Mae. I hear they work alot with women. I wish you the very best of luck. I know it is hard being a single mom, but with God as your co-parent, you will be fine!

Good luck,

I don't think they give a break for single mom's with Mortgage Companies... either you can pay or can't. However, if you're a first time buyer, there are special incentives and programs for that.

As for tuition, I know Religious Private Schools give "scholarships" on a first come, first serve basis based on your income. It might not be "free" but it could be at a greatly reduced rate depending on your income.

Good luck!

They are owned by Pam and Roger Baezell. We have used them a couple of times. My friend used them when she was going through a divorce and again when selling her home. They are really sweet and will work with you to find the best kind of mortgage for your individual situation.

AS far as schools- some do offer scholarships- you have to apply every year. Each school has it's own criteria.

Hi Kristin

I can answer your question about the mortgage. A lot of times a single mom is looked at as a first time home buyer depending on the situation. If this is the case you can get all sorts of deals on homes. There are city grants along with government loans. City grants are good in the fact that you live in the house for 5 years you don't pay any of it back. They will give you up to $7500. You would have to qualify though. I am a realtor and I work in the Colin County area if you need help. I would love to help you. You can contact me at ____@____.com or cell ###-###-####. If you need a great mortgage broker his name is Kent Hendrix. I love working with him. He can tell you what you qualify for and the best loan to go for. His number is ###-###-####x227. His email is ____@____.com tell him L. Oldham gave you his name. His is a very honest, ethical, christian guy and that is why I choose to work with him.

Let me know if I can help

Is your daughter in school now? I know many of the private schools have scholarships but you have to get started on them early because they may have waiting lists. You may also want to look into public schools in your area. I know many people bash DISD on this website and just in general but there are many good schools in Dallas you just have to be assertive as a parent and stay involved.
