Should I Buy a Wii Fit?

I am looking for a fun way to lose a little weight. I amwondering if any of you Mamas have experience with the Wii Fit. Has it helped you lose weight? Do you enjoy it? My main problem is finding exercise that I enjoy enough to keep doing. Do you think this is a good option or should I just buy a treadmill?

Hey A., I don't have a wii fit, but my friend does and so does her sister. I know that her sister lost over 30 lbs using it and it is a lot of fun! I had ddr (dance dance revolution) for my ps2 and that helped me lose weight. If you have DirecTV the fit channel has some really fun workouts too. Good luck!

Hi A.!

After several friends told me how much they loved Wii Fit, I got one. It's lots of fun, has a variety of exercises and activities -- like you, my biggest frustration is finding something I actually enjoy so I'll do it! They are only around $90 and don't take up much space, unlike a treadmill, which you know is hugely expensive and takes up a ton of room.

Best wishes,
L.

Hi A.,
I have the Wii Fit and I love it!!! I've only been using it for a few days but I think it's AWESOME!!!! It's fun and it works. I love the Yoga. Good luck!!

I love my wii fit and I got mine at toys r us. The wii fit makes the games fun (example: yoga, running, hula hoops, ski jumps, bubble rolling) and it really doen't feel like exercise at all. my kids love it too and we all have fun and like to encourage each other to bet the last challange. I love it so much more than going to the gym or running on a treadmill.

Most definitely! it is so much fun! And very beneficial. I tested it out at my girlfriend's house before I got ours. my side muscles were sore that night! My boys-7 & 5- have a great time on it too! As you play the different games, you unlock more. So the possibilites are endless (almost!) Not only is the Wii Fit a great thing, but now Jullian Michaels from Big Loser has a Wii game that goes uses the Wii Fit. I love mine! But they are hard to find! I looked and looked, and my brother in Texas found one and sent it to me. They are one of the best investments we have made! Good luck!

I don't have one but two of my dear friends got them for Christmas. They must be amazing because it is all they talk about! They are also having a lot of fun with their kids while playing. Both of them also regularly exercise, too.
I think it sounds like a great idea!
Get it and have fun!

Hi, we bought the Wii Fit and ended up selling it a month or two later. It is fun, but not really great exercise. You would have to spend a lot more time on it than in the gym or treadmill to burn the same amount of calories. So if you are just looking for fun and maybe (with diet) lose a little weight, give it a try, but for real exercise and getting in long term health (especially weight training and cardiovascular health) you need to be doing something more.

We joined one of those little gyms you see around (Fitness 19 or 24 hour fitness) and it is cheap ($9 a month) and has childcare. I have realized as I get older that I just have to make a change in my mind about exercise. Before I did things to lose weight or for fun, but now I realize that this needs to be a life change and I just have to do it to be healthy for me and my family. So, it isn't always fun but I have made it a higher priority and that keeps me going. And once the weather warms up there are all kinds of outside things that I do enjoy and are better exercise than the Wii Fit. Good luck.

I have a wii fit and I think it is okay. I like the yoga and strength training excercises but I don't find that there is anything that is cardio enough for me. What I ended up doing is jumping rope for a half hour and then doing strength training as a suppliment, then I switch the next day and do the yoga and other excercises. It is nice to have the wii fit because it is easier then thinking of things to do myself but I find it a little boring. Hope this helps. Good luck and way to go!

My family just bought a wii fit and it is a blast! I absolutely love it for the kids as well. It gets them up and moving as well as yourself. I am a personal trainer and would recommend it as PART of a workout routine. If you can add some aerobics and maybe get an exercise ball. You can do a whole workout with it. The "game" I'm most interested to see is Jillian Michaels has a wii fit workout game out. I haven't gotten it yet, but knowing her that is probably a full workout. It's been sold out at the few places I've tried. Good luck!

I love the Wii Fit, it is lots of fun and it does give your core a good workout. I am not sure I would say that it helped me to lose weight. I have to say that the only exercise program that I have ever stuck with is Jazzercise. I did it for 4 years before I became an instructor and loved it so much I opened a Jazzercise Center here in Parker. You should come in for a free class. WE have babysitting in our child care area on Mon,Wed and Fri mornings at 9:30 am. My business is here on Mamasource if you are interested in the coupon I offer and in reading the reviews on it. If you love music and like to dance, this is the program for you. There are people there of all abilities, ages and sizes. I hope you come. I would love to help other Mamasource Mom's find joy in exercise and find that smaller size in their closet fitting them.
