I am looking for a fun way to lose a little weight. I amwondering if any of you Mamas have experience with the Wii Fit. Has it helped you lose weight? Do you enjoy it? My main problem is finding exercise that I enjoy enough to keep doing. Do you think this is a good option or should I just buy a treadmill?

Hey A., I don't have a wii fit, but my friend does and so does her sister. I know that her sister lost over 30 lbs using it and it is a lot of fun! I had ddr (dance dance revolution) for my ps2 and that helped me lose weight. If you have DirecTV the fit channel has some really fun workouts too. Good luck!

Hi A.!

After several friends told me how much they loved Wii Fit, I got one. It's lots of fun, has a variety of exercises and activities -- like you, my biggest frustration is finding something I actually enjoy so I'll do it! They are only around $90 and don't take up much space, unlike a treadmill, which you know is hugely expensive and takes up a ton of room.

Best wishes,
L.

I don't have the Wii Fit yet, but we do have the Wii system. We all love the sports, and I can tell you that even if you just do the boxing with your boys, husband or by yourself you will feel it the next day. The last time I played the boxing game with my son I could barely keep up and my arms were killing me the next morning. I would eventually like to get the Wii Fit since I don't really want to go out walking in 30 degree weather, but for now, the sports package it comes with works just fine in helping to get your heart rate up which burns calories, plus it is tons of family fun!

We got the Wii Fit to lose weight. I don't like going to gyms cuz I don't know how to use the equipment. So far, I've lost 1.5 lbs this week and the only different this week than last was I added working out on the Wii Fit. It really works you. I'm sore and 'feel the burn'. It takes you step by step how to do movements to stregthen you muscles so you know you are doing the movements the right way. I love it and would recomend it to anyone. It has some fun games to make exercising a little more exciting and fun.

We have the Wii Fit. It is a great game. Our family has had hours of fun with it. However, I don't really see it as a weight loss tool.

My daughter has a Wii fit and she enjoys doing that, but have you ever though about trying more nutrition in your life? Before isagenix, I weighed 142 lbs., afterwards I weigh 124. Wow, I couldn't believe how easily I lost the weigh and how much energy I have now. Just check it out, it may or may not be for you. www.kbicknell.isagenix.com

If you have the money YES! We love our Wii. It keeps my whole family active. Even my kids will play for hours if I let them and have no idea they are exercising at the same time.

My husband gave me a Wii Fit for Christmas and I love it. It's a great way to get some exercise in when you can't leave the house very easily. It's also quite fun. It helps you keep track of how long you've exercised, what kind of exercises you've done, and all sorts of stuff. I don't lose weight very easily, but I've managed to lose a pound in a little less than a month so that's major progress for me!

We love our's. It is very fun way to excercise, without feeling like you are working at it.

They are hard to find, so you may have to call around to find out when they are in stock.

We just bought it for the same reasons and I find that the kids play on it way more than I do. But it is really fun and you can get good exercise carbo and strength stuff if you use it. It does a nice job keeping track of your progress. Treadmill may be more effective but the whole family can enjoy the wii.

I just got a Wii for Christmas. It came with the Fit and a few other games. The Wii Fit is a good tool to keep track, and get on track. I am using it, I have ALOT of weight to lose. I don't know if this is the "thing" that will do it for me. I did see another program that also uses the balance board that Wii Fit comes with...it is the trainer Jillian from Biggest Loser's program for Wii. Looks like it would be good. My 8 year old is also using the Wii Fit. She loves it. She also plays the tennis on the Wii sports. She works up a sweat on that! I think the Wii is great because it makes you move!

I love my wii fit and I got mine at toys r us. The wii fit makes the games fun (example: yoga, running, hula hoops, ski jumps, bubble rolling) and it really doen't feel like exercise at all. my kids love it too and we all have fun and like to encourage each other to bet the last challange. I love it so much more than going to the gym or running on a treadmill.

I would check out Sparkpeople.com! It is free. They give TONS of advice on how to loose weight from nutrition, to exersize, motivation, you name it, it's on there! Their are free exersise videos you can watch from your computer. which has given me a lot of good ideas for workouts. Varity is the spice of life so if you get board with workouts easy then I would check them out they have so much stuff on there! I've only started useing this site seriously for 3 weeks and I have already lost 11 lbs! Granted I've got a lot to loose, but I am so excited about it! I finally feel like I'm on the right track this time! I know this doesnt answer your question about the Wii Fit, but if weightloss is your goal then I would try Sparkpeople.com!

The creator of the Wii Fit has said that the purpose of the Wii Fit is to make users become more aware of their bodies, rather than to be used as a weight loss program. I have a Wii console and recently bought the Wii Fit, but haven't yet used it. I would say that if you're serious about losing some weight, you'd have to do more outside of the Wii Fit programs to be successful. It's still fun to play, but not the best exercise routine out there. Good luck!

Hi A.,
I agree with Simone. We also have a WII Fit and it is a lot of fun. It is not enough to really lose weight, as it is limited buy what you can do on the board. There is a jogging/running segment that is great though. But it is GREAT at making you aware of your deficits in balance and flexibility and body mass etc. It has really motivated my husband to lose a few pounds.
Take care,
B.

I love the Wii Fit, it is lots of fun and it does give your core a good workout. I am not sure I would say that it helped me to lose weight. I have to say that the only exercise program that I have ever stuck with is Jazzercise. I did it for 4 years before I became an instructor and loved it so much I opened a Jazzercise Center here in Parker. You should come in for a free class. WE have babysitting in our child care area on Mon,Wed and Fri mornings at 9:30 am. My business is here on Mamasource if you are interested in the coupon I offer and in reading the reviews on it. If you love music and like to dance, this is the program for you. There are people there of all abilities, ages and sizes. I hope you come. I would love to help other Mamasource Mom's find joy in exercise and find that smaller size in their closet fitting them.

My family just bought a wii fit and it is a blast! I absolutely love it for the kids as well. It gets them up and moving as well as yourself. I am a personal trainer and would recommend it as PART of a workout routine. If you can add some aerobics and maybe get an exercise ball. You can do a whole workout with it. The "game" I'm most interested to see is Jillian Michaels has a wii fit workout game out. I haven't gotten it yet, but knowing her that is probably a full workout. It's been sold out at the few places I've tried. Good luck!

I have a wii fit and I think it is okay. I like the yoga and strength training excercises but I don't find that there is anything that is cardio enough for me. What I ended up doing is jumping rope for a half hour and then doing strength training as a suppliment, then I switch the next day and do the yoga and other excercises. It is nice to have the wii fit because it is easier then thinking of things to do myself but I find it a little boring. Hope this helps. Good luck and way to go!

Hi, we bought the Wii Fit and ended up selling it a month or two later. It is fun, but not really great exercise. You would have to spend a lot more time on it than in the gym or treadmill to burn the same amount of calories. So if you are just looking for fun and maybe (with diet) lose a little weight, give it a try, but for real exercise and getting in long term health (especially weight training and cardiovascular health) you need to be doing something more.

We joined one of those little gyms you see around (Fitness 19 or 24 hour fitness) and it is cheap ($9 a month) and has childcare. I have realized as I get older that I just have to make a change in my mind about exercise. Before I did things to lose weight or for fun, but now I realize that this needs to be a life change and I just have to do it to be healthy for me and my family. So, it isn't always fun but I have made it a higher priority and that keeps me going. And once the weather warms up there are all kinds of outside things that I do enjoy and are better exercise than the Wii Fit. Good luck.

I don't have one but two of my dear friends got them for Christmas. They must be amazing because it is all they talk about! They are also having a lot of fun with their kids while playing. Both of them also regularly exercise, too.
I think it sounds like a great idea!
Get it and have fun!

Most definitely! it is so much fun! And very beneficial. I tested it out at my girlfriend's house before I got ours. my side muscles were sore that night! My boys-7 & 5- have a great time on it too! As you play the different games, you unlock more. So the possibilites are endless (almost!) Not only is the Wii Fit a great thing, but now Jullian Michaels from Big Loser has a Wii game that goes uses the Wii Fit. I love mine! But they are hard to find! I looked and looked, and my brother in Texas found one and sent it to me. They are one of the best investments we have made! Good luck!

I got a Wii Fit in July. I was noticing my weight go down slowly, and then unespectedly found myself pregnant! I really love it. There are some things that are open (aerobics, yoga, balance) and as you work out, you "earn" others - advanced balancing things and more "games". My favorite is the boxing. I LOVE it!

You use your Mii and every day when you get on the balance board, you can check your weight and BMI and it will chart your progress for you. You set all that up when you first start. Also, my 8 year old loves to play it, too. And, when I'm happy jack about something, I can usually get my hubby to "play" the games, too.

My plan is that when this baby is born in April to start right up with my Wii Fit again as soon as possible. You make progress with the weight, but you compete against yourself and it's more like playing games than exercising. And, I get tired of exercising - it feels like an obligation - my Wii Fit is fun, not an obligation. So, my vote is go for it! They aren't always easy to find, but I just love mine. I seriously was anxiously waiting nap time each day so I could get back to Wii Fit. (Kinda hard to do with a then 2 year old running around!)

If you have other questions, let me know - like I said, I love mine and am excited about getting back to it in a few months!
