Wii Fit for Me?
Hello Mamas,
I'm wondering if any of you have Wii Fit and if so, how do you like it?
I go to the gym 3-4 times a week, but some weeks I'm lucky to get there once! My body isn't very forgiving during those weeks and I lose momentum instead of weight. I thought this might be a good substitute. I was thinking it also might be a fun family thing...is it?

So What Happened?™
Thanks for all your input. I see a Wii Fit or EA Active in my near future :)
Possibly a DDR because I LOVE to dance and so do my kids.
Good to see such positive feedback.
Thanks!

I love the Wii Fit! Wii in general is a great way to get up and get exercise and also great as a family activity. Now, it's not as intense as going to the gym can be, but it is a good workout. There are also lots of fun games out there that would be perfect for a night of family fun. "Wario Ware: Smooth Moves" is awesome! So much fun!

I know you wouldn't be using it instead of a gym, so dont listen to people saying you wont lose weight. I love the Wii Fit and i am thinkin about the active thing too, it looks like it is a better workout than the wii. i know there is a running option on the Fit and its kinda nice, and there is also yoga that is fun. I hope you enjoy whichever product you choose!

I bought the Wii fit because I don't have money for a gym membership. I was actually surprised at the variety of activities on there. You can choose from Yoga, Aerobics, Balance Games or Strength Training. I just started using the Wii fit last week, and have already lost 4 lbs! I've been using it once, sometimes twice a day, and like it because you aren't pushed to do something for a certain amount of time. If you only have time for one activity, that's fine. I also saw somewhere that the Balance board is used for some other games, so you might be able to get your exercise from playing other games. Like another person said, it's not as intensive exercise as you would get at the gym, but I think it was well worth the $90 we spent on it!

I don't live near a gym and walking every day wasn't showing me results anymore so I went with a Wii and got Wii Fit. I love it. I usually alternate between strength/Yoga workouts and the aerobics/balance activities. That way I don't get in a rut and my body keeps guessing what I'm going to do next. I try to work out on it at least 4 times a week, but sometimes I do more just because it's fun for me. Definitely worth the investment (which was cheaper than going to the gym for me). My 17 year old son uses it too...and my two year old thinks he is...lol. I know it's helped me on my weight loss journey. :)

We have both Wii Fit and Wii Active (newer). The Fit uses the balance board for most things and we do like it, however, there is a lot of "down" time in it as you have to go back to the menu to choose what to do next after each exercise. I like the step aerobics, but don't have cable, so can't really do more than 20 minutes on the Wii led one. The free step is great, if you have something to watch while you do it.
We got the Wii Active (EA) and have really enjoyed it. You don't have to have the balance board to do it and it comes with a leg strap and a resistance band. I am annoyed with the leg strap as it barely fits on my leg ( I am about 60 lbs overweight) and falls off all the time. Also hard to adjust small enough for my very skinny 7 year old. However I have found that if you just hold the nunchuck on your leg in this position, it works just fine. So that is what I do to get past the frustration. I really love the customized workouts on this, you really can get a great workout and decide how hard and long you want to exercise.
I have heard the Jillian Micheals one is good, but haven't seen it myself. Hope this helps :)

We love our Wii fit...we, meaning my daughters and I. It is great that the more you use it the more levels you unlock. It makes excersizing fun. I would get it and try it and if you don't like it, sell it. Or find a friend that has one a borrow theirs one day or one week to see if you like it. My friend's son loves it too, he was a heavier child and he got hooked on it and slimmed up and he's only 5. Great fun. Hope this helps...Good luck and God Bless.

Hi L.,
I'd agree with some of the other posters...I don't think the Wii fit really does much for a good workout. We bought the EA Fit game for the Wii and it's much better. There are different activities you can do and it does a fair amount with resistance bands.
Good luck!

I don't think Wii fit is a substitute for the gym. It's more of a game, in my opinion. I mean it's better than nothing, and it's fun, but it's not going to help you lose weight.
