Seeking Suggestions for Books Along the Stephen King/Dean Koontz" Genre
I am a crazy fan of Stephen King and Dean Koontz horror books.
For those of you who enjoy these type of books, can you suggest any other similar authors? I've about exhausted all of King's and Koontz' books.
Thanks in advance! :o)
So What Happened?™

James Patterson is a great author, if you've not read "Kiss the Girls" its a book I just couldn't put down. I have read almost every Patricia Cornwell novel out there, at least all of the ones I know of, and have really enjoyed her.
I myself am a big Koontz fan, I own at least half of his books, but I think his earlier works are better than some of the newer ones he puts out. Tom Clancy really is my all time favorite, I own every last one of his books and have read all of them at least once if not twice. He and Cornwell both have something in common though, you almost have to read his books in order from the time they were written to be completely up to speed.
Enjoy!

My husband was also a King and Koontz man. While I read all the time, I can' do those two. My husband also liked James Patterson. Not all of his are scary, but I've started several and put them down. You might try him

John Saul is a similar genre as Dean Koontz. Also, Dean has other pen names (cant recall what it is) - have you read those as well?

Hi ND! I am a King fan as well! I have really been a True Crime fan the last few years. To me, real life can be more frightening than any fiction. Ann Rule is my favorite author. She has books with just one story and also ones with several short (true) stories. Her website is www.annrules.com
The best book I read in a long time (and could not believe was a true story) was Devil in the White City. I read it on my honeymoon! Very suspensful, and it's about the World's Fair in Chicago at the turn of the Century. Have fun...

Try John Saul. Start with his earlier stuff and move forward (for some reason the newer paperbacks aren't as good but they are still good).
Let me know how you like him, he's one of my favs =)

Try Michael Weaver's
book called Impulse
While more of a thriller/action type book if you like Dean Koontz's book Intensity then you love this book.

Hi!
I love good books too! My sister and I have enjoyed Nina Kiriki Hoffman (http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/h/nina-kiriki-hoffman/). She isn't the horror genre, but more fantasy. Thing is, she is bizzare with refreshing unusual twists. You might rent her books from the library and see what you think. Also, does your local library have a book sale? I believe most libraries sell their old or just uncirculated books, plus those donated, very cheaply. You can find new, or very gently used books and often new releases within months after being released. It's a great way to get kids books and our books!
I hope you like her!

Try books by Denise Swanson. The are more mystery than scary but a very quick/ easy read. Once you read one you will want to read her whole set, they all follow a single female charcter that you really get to love. And the author is coming out with new books all the time.
