Seeking Recommendation for Proper Bra Fitting

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good bra fitting/foundation garment store in the Twin Cities? I am standing in my brother's wedding in October and need a good foundation garment, both to slim and support (roughly a 38D) under my strapless dress. I am still nursing and do not know how long I will be this size, so would love something affordable, but am open to any and all options.

What can I do next?

I highly recommend Nordstrom's at the Mall of America. They have really experienced people working there that know how to fit you right. They have made wonderful bra recommendations that might be more expensive, but will last and support you!
Happy shopping!

Hi L.,
I think the only professional bra fitter we have in the twin cities area is Bravo Bras in Blaine. I have purchased many bras and wedding undergarments from Judy over the years and she is always been exceptionally helpful. They have large, private rooms in which to have your fitting and they are very easy to work with. I don't think they have a website, but here is a newspaper article about them (that includes their contact info): http://www.abcnewspapers.com/2006/november/16BRAVO.html.
Good Luck! L. T.

Hi L..

I was in a wedding when my son was about 7 months, and also had a strapless dress. I'm a similar size to you as well.

I got my foundation garments at the alterations center across the street from The Wedding Shoppe on Grand Ave. in Saint Paul, even though our dresses came from elsewhere. They have sturdy yet affordable bras and do very well with the fitting, and are used to dealing with bridesmaids in this situation.

(I've gone there more than once when I needed a strapless bra - this was just the only time nursing was an issue.)

Hi, I would also recommend Nordstrom's. They are not cheap, but the sales people are very helpful and know their stuff. And if you only plan to wear the undergarment once, at this wedding, you can always sell it on eBay or Craigslist. I have bought "gently used" bras off of eBay.

Nordstrom's Intimates department is wonderful. Tell them what you need and they will measure you and make suggestions and make sure the garment fits properly. Their intimates are not super cheap but I got my best fitting bra there.

Definately try Nordstroms. I am not a department store person and hate spending money on things like bras but tried Nordstroms after years of trying to find the right bras. I will never try anywhere else. I am so happy with there services. Even thought they cost more they last way longer if properly cared for so I probably end up spending less in the long run.

Bravo Bra's the women is amazing.
I have gotten 46DDD strapless bra from her to wear to weddings including my own. She is great at what she does. Nothing sexy or cute all form and function- the way it was meant to be.

Nordstrom at the Mall of America- they are great- some of the bras are pretty pricey but you can always get measured, see what fits and go up to Nordstrom rack- they often have less common sizes greatly reduced. Good luck!

I have had great success at Nordstrom.
There is a gal there that I really like named Tracy. Her availability varies each week so I would call the MOA location first but she works about 3 days/week.
The bra fit is amazing and that's coming from someone with a history of very poor fitting bras. I had the best nursing bra from there ever -hardly noticed that it was on.
It might be pricey but well worth it.
Good luck!

Nordstrom's, Macy's, Neiman Marcus, or any of the big department stores with sales staff actually trained to measure clothes for fit is a good place to go. Just ask one of the sales assistants in the lingere department to help you. Otherwise, the smaller more specialized bridal shops should have someone on staff to help you. They often do in-house alterations etc. and would therefore know how to properly measure you.

I'd also recommend waiting a little longer to get sized for your clothes, so that you'll have a better idea of your size closer to the big day. If you will be nursing at the time of the wedding, you will more than likely be about the same size as you are now, unless you go on a serious diet/exercise plan.

There is also a place called Bravo Bras in Blaine. Her main focus is making sure her customers get bras that actually fit, and she has a wide range of sizes (including nursing bras; that's where I got mine). Again, the bras aren't cheap, but will last.
