Can anyone recommend a good midwife that practices at a hospital? My husband has insisted I give birth in a hospital rather than a birth center.

What can I do next?

I used a doula at Baylor. Her name is Gwen Fancy ###-###-####). She may know a midwife for you, or you may decide to use her. She's fantastic, and a Bradley Method instructor. You'd save some money by using a doula, and since you'll be in a hospital, you'll have doctors available to you. Baylor is pretty open to natural childbirth, and they have great facilities to support moms who choose that route. Good luck!

I LOVE Julie Charlton at MCkinney Medical Center. She delivers in the hospital, and she is with you for the entire labor and delivery. SHe is great.

Susan Akins has an office at Baylor downtown and in Mesquite. Although she is a certified nurse midwife, she always delivers at Baylor Hospital. When I asked her why one time she indicated that she had seen too many things go wrong without the resources or equipment at hand. She is wonderful...I highly recommend her. The practice name is Womens Health Alliance.

Two of my friends used Susan Akins and both were very happy with their care.
I gave birth at Dallas Birth and Women's Center. If your husband will entertain a visit, at least go for a visit. My husband finally came around and I had a great experience (we will use Cherie and her staff for our next child as well). http://www.birthcenter.net/
Good luck

I have several friends who see Lindsey Kregel and Susan Akin at Baylor. The website for the practice they are in is http://www.wha-docs.com/ and their link is on the left.
I have not personally used this practice, but I have several friends who do and I am going to interview them before I get pregnant again. i planned to do natural childbirth, but I had to have a c-section and want to do a VBAC next time. I have one friend who is an L&D nurse at Baylor who sees Susan and another who delivered twins with Lindsey. They both have wonderful things to say about both of them. Good luck.
