My old ob/gyn moved and I have to find a new one. I just found out I'm pg and I LOVED my old doc so it's gonna be hard to find one to live up to her! I live in Rockwall but I'd be willing to drive at least 25 miles if someone could recommend one. I prefer female as I just feel more comfy when it comes to my personal areas. LOL And I am looking for someone who has a good bedside manner and will actually listen to me and take time to talk if I need to and not always be in a rush. I am a total worrywart when I'm pg. LOL So if anyone has any recommendations I'd love to know. I have BCBC insurance if that helps! Thanks so much!

What can I do next?

Dr. Hagood at Walnut Hill Ob/Gyn is absolutely wonderful! She is so down to earth and truly has yours and your baby's best interest in mind all the time. I will never see anyone else again...and everyone I know that sees her feels the same way. They are in the directory. Good luck!

My ob was natalie light at presby in dallas. I absolutely LOVE her! She is so attentive and really listens to your concerns/questions and works with you ....rather than telling you what to do.

She was even in the labor/delivery room with me for most of the time unlike other docs who just rush in right when you give birth. I can't say enough about this doctor other than she is utterly fabulous!

It really depends on what sort of care you are looking for. I would feel comfortable recommending Susan Akins and Lynsey Cragle (since it is only two women practicing together, you would definitely get a woman when you went into labor), who practice at Baylor.

Also, Dr. Sharon Mulvehill is a lovely woman, very easy to talk to and good bedside manner, at St. Paul's. Those are a straight shot from Rockwall to downtown...

If you really want a lot of personalized attention, and long appointment times (not meaning you wait a long time, but that you have 25-30 minutes per appointment with the care provider), you might consider a midwife with a birth center. There is a good one in Garland not too far from you http://www.fcmcdallas.com and also another not that far away from you on Lovers Lane, http://www.dallasmidwife.com which I would recommend. Again in this situation, you would only have a woman no matter when you went into labor and you would have only one of two care providers no matter when you went into labor- unlike in many practices where there are 5 people sharing call so you get who you get.

Susan Akins at Woman's Health Care Alliance is wonderful. She is actually a certified nurse midwife. She only delivers at Baylor, doesn't believe in home or birthing center deliveries. There are also other female practitioners at this group practice. I've heard good things about Tracy Satterfield who I believe is also at this practice. Susan Akins also sees patients at a Baylor clinic in Mesquite which would be closer to you.

Having a nurse midwife like Susan is kind of like having your own Doula because, unless she has another patient, she stays right there with you most of the time. I know several other moms who go to Susan and they all simply rave about her. She believes in total health...mind, body, spirit. She takes time during exams to find out what's going on in your life and will give suggestions for destressing. The phone number for this practice is ###-###-####.

Dr Michael Cowart he is at Baylor Garland. He is wonderful, although he is male he makes you feel very comfortable with him. I was having female problems and I went to 3 different doctors before I went to him and he was the only one that was forward with me and told me what was wrong and fixed the problem.

Awesome Doctor who I highly recommend!!!

I loved Dr Alison Elmquist in Medical City. The only reason I changed was insurance. Her partners are all wonderful too.

I felt the same way and met Dr. Walter Evans. He practices inside of Presby Hospital and he delivered my baby. He responds to emails very quick and really gets to know you. Let me know if you're interested.

I love my ob/gyn, her name is Dr Melissa Crochet. She is located next to Baylor in Dallas. She and another doctor from the office she was in just branched out on their own. The other doctor is Dr Brothers (I can't think of her first name). I like both of them. Dr Crochet was my ob through both of my pregnancies and Dr Brothers actually delivered my youngest. They used to be part of Women to Women, but have branched out on their own in the last couple of months. I will tell you now that they are wonderful and they are affiliated with Baylor in Dallas which I received the best care I have ever had in a hospital. I can't praise this group enough. I had a rough delivery and complications after the fact and they were awesome. If you are interested, let me know and I will get their new number for you. Good luck with your search.
