Can anyone recommend a good FEMALE OB/GYN who delivers at Delnor Community Hospital. I am due in April with my second child and just recently moved to the area from out of state. Thanks for any recommendations.

So What Happened?

Thanks for the responses. I also found another posting requesting the same info and have decided to try Fox Valley Women's Health Partners. I already have an appointment.

Hi C.,

I recommend Fox Valley Women's Health Partners. Dr. Mills, Dr. Wang, and Dr. Homan are all women and they are all wonderful. Dr. Homan didn't join the practice till right around the time I had my baby so I don't know her as well, but I've heard great things about her and she stopped by my room at the hospital to introduce herself, which I thought was very nice. I saw a lot of Dr. Mills and Dr. Wang and I loved them both. All of the nurses at the practice are wonderful as well. I can't recommend them enough. They deliver at both Delnor and Provena Mercy and have offices in St. Charles and Aurora.

Good luck!
L.

I know a midwife who delivers there- her name is Marla Ellis, CNM and she is with Focus On Women in an office with other female and male OB's.
I liked her okay, but she is pretty interventive and I changed to another midwifery who is in Oak Park- West Suburban Midwives who deliver at West Suburban Medical Center (and they do water births there too.)
I wasn't happy with Delnor's policies either- like that they would not let my daughter in the room while I birthed, they didn't want to answer any questions during the tour, and I have heard of two separate cases of them being over crowded and women delivering on stretchers in the ER waiting room!!! That scared me enough to switch hospitals! When I asked about this after the tour, the nurse laughed and said, Yeah, sometimes that happens. Ummm.... no... not for me it won't!!

Hope that helps!
M.

I know of Dr. Harmon. She is in a group with I believe 3 other women and 1 man. The man is about to retire from the OB part, so I don't think you would need to worry about him delivering you. You really need to investigate your options. Alot of doctors anymore rarely cover their own patients. So you could go into labor and your doctor won't necessarily deliver you. If that is really important to you, you should find out if your doctor could cover you. Anyways, Dr. Harmon is a very relaxed, young but very experience ob that just has a great personality. I work with her at Mercy and would recommend her highly.

Dupage OB/GYN is in the building attached to Delnor, Dr Lynn Fesenmyer is awesome. She delivered both my little ones. All the docs in the practice were great (you meet them all during your pregnancy)and the girls in the office were a pleasure to deal with.

Hi C.,

Congratulations! I second the poster that recommended Fox Valley Women and Children Health Partners. Dr. Homan delivered both my girls. She is absolutely fabulous. I met Dr. Mills once, she discharged me after I had my second daughter as Dr. Homan had started her vacation the day after my delivery. They are also currently building a new building in St. Charles.

I also delivered at Delnor and really had no complaints. They were very flexible with the rules. There are no strict visiting hours and kids, especially your own are welcome. Our doctor recommended that we find a sitter during the birth, but we could have had her there if we wished. She stayed with us in the room after delivery and until we went home. I had my girls in 2004 and 2006, so before the new suites were built and after they were completed. They were very busy there in August 2006 when I delivered, we actually ended up in one of the old room...no new suite, but for us it actually worked out, because my husband got his own bed! And there was more room for the playpen and toys for our toddler.
Good Luck!
J.

I saw Dr. Homan with my twins until we moved down to Dallas late in my pregnancy. I thought she was wonderful and I would have been happy to have had her deliver my babies. I saw Dr. Wang once and i liked her, though I found her a little stiffer and more by the book/inflexible. I personally prefer a calmer Dr., but you like someone with a more clinical (I'm not sure if that is exactly the right word) approach she would be great for you.
