Seeking Consignment/thrift Shop Recommendations.
I'm looking for recommendations for good thrift/consignment shops in the area with gently used, name-brand clothing for my kids.

I just absolutely LOVE Inch by Inch in Shorewood, behind Gas City, on rt59 and black roads! I bring all my kids clothes there that they have grown out of. And I get good money for them! I've bought a ton of clothes there too! Some of the ones I brought there for resale, are ones that I previously bought there! So when I go back to buy new clothes, I usally have a credit there, so I pay next to nothing for them! Cute name brand clothes too!

I would look in the Aurora yellow pages under "resale" There is a Mission - can't remember its name - that puts homeless and poor people to work and it has the best prices ever.
Also, right near Farnsworth and Indian Trail in Aurora are two great malls that feature giant resale shops. I think the pricing is a LOT better than Once Upon A Child. I can find things $1 or $2 per piece. I get very good name brands at both shops - you just have to search for them.
Good Luck!

R.,
There is a good second hand store on plainfield rd. in joliet called the once upon a child. There is another one in shorewood off of black road almost at the corner of route 59 and black. There is a really good one in chicago called the second child at armatige and sheffield. There is another one in channahon on route 6. I hope this helps.

Instead of going to a resale shop, go to the schools and find out who does a clothing resale. You can also work the resale and put some hours in and go to the presale before the public. You will find that the clothing is in great condition, try to work the days they take the clothes in to just see what they are getting. After doing this you will never go to a resale shop agian. Get your mom or a friend to work with you someone who can shop for yours and has no kids. more for your money, Plus it's nice to work with someone you know. Edgewood school in woodridge has an excellent resale , they do one in fall and spring. Take the time and look into this you will not be disappointed. Have fun shopping. by the way working the resale is not alot of hours. And keep in mind you can also sell back your unwanted clothing. The pay off is 70%/30%.

There is one in Shorewood called Inch By Inch. It's in the strip mall on the southeast corner or Rte. 59 and Black Rd. I like this one a lot better then Once Upon A Child. Much cleaner, better selection and if there is something you need they are more helpful in finding it for you.

My vote is for Once Upon a Child too. We have one in St. Charles, they have a website you can check for their other locations.

Once upon a child is always good-- there's one in crest hill and orland park. I also like goodwill stores-- also in joliet and OP. Unique is another one, but hit or miss. Also in joliet.
I never pay full price, and I hope you don't either!
