I live in Chesapeake, VA and just found out that I am pregnant. I have never had a baby here before I have always had them at military hospitals. I can't do that here because they are full. Now I am looking for a provider in my area. I was hoping that someone had some ideas about some good ones. Thank you, jessie

What can I do next?

What part of Chesapeake do you live in? I live in Greenbrier but my OB was in the Western Branch area (I know it's a long way but I used to live out that way and I liked my OB). His name is Dr. Demkowski at Lakeview Medical Center. But now that I have had my daughter, the next one I don't want to drive all the way out to Western Branch while I am in labor like I did this past time, I will go to Greenbrier Obstetrics off of Volvo Parkway. A friend of mine goes there and says they are really good.

I had my second son in Feb 2005. Dr. Margie Corney off of Battlefield Blvd. is the best. She is very personable and the rest of her staff is wonderful. The midwife Wendy is a great person too. She would have deliverd my son, but since I had to have emergency c-section Dr. Corney had to perform the procedure. They should be in the phone book, but if you need me to give you a phone #, please let me know. I also had another doc with my first son eight years ago, Dr Puritz. She is part of the group for women as someone else recommended previously to you. Dr. Fernandez was the doc on call when I started labor eight years ago and she was great too. Good Luck!

Hi J.,
Congratulations to you and your family! I am about 5 months pregnant and I go to the Group for Women. I see Dr. Fernandez but have also heard great things about Dr. Prier. They came very highly recommended and my husband and I like that we get to see the same provider every month so that we can build a relationship with her.
God Bless,
T.

She isn't in Chesapeake, but anywhere in South Hampton Roads isn't more than 30 min to Downtown Norfolk. I recomend Dr. Annie Williams. Her office is located in Medical Tower accross the access road from Norfolk General at the corner of Gresham Dr and Brambleton Ave near the Midtown Tunnel. She has a knowledgable, friendly office staff and Dr. Williams has privledges at both Norfolk General and DePaul.

Hi J.,

First of all congrats. I live in Chesapeake and strongly recommend Virginia Center for Women on Battlefield Blvd in Chesapeake. The best two doctors to me are my fave doctor Gray a male and doctor Geary a female. If you need futher information I am glad to help. I guess the most important part is seeing if the take your insurance. We have a little in common, my husband just got out of the military in March, and I am due in July as well on our second. Good luck on finding a good OB/GYN.
