I am wondering what your thoughts are on Edinborough Park. My daughter plans on inviting 25 classmates and I figure only about half will actually come to the birthday party. What have been your experiences? Is the park closed in so the kids dont run off to the other rooms? Is there any staff supervision? We plan on having my parents and sister and Brother in law around for supervision. We've never been there so I'm not sure what to expect. We will be taking a trip there one weekend before booking the party. Just looking for some experienced party feedback =D My youngest daughter will also be turning 1 the weekend my daughter turns 7 is there anything there for the toddlers to do also? Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for all the great advice!! I will plan on "everyone" attending=) Thanks. The last 3 parties my daughter attended usually had kids missing, so I just assumed, lol. I'm betting because this is at a well known place ppl will be more likely to bring there kids (other party's were at the homes) Thanks everyone, we're prepared to party!!

We had my son's 8th birthday there and everybody loved it. 25 sounds like a lot to invite though and it can get pretty chaotic there on the weekends. There is no supervision provided by the park--the only supervision is provided by you. I think we had 8-10 guests and I felt like we had our hands full (although they were active boys). It is generally recommended you have one guest per year of the birthday child (so in your case approximately 7 guests). There is an enclosed 3-story playground (although 7-year-olds can open and run out the doors), kind of like a super-McDonald's playland, and there is a gym with a jumper that the kids usually have access to (although they didn't for our party because of a wedding). You also have use of a party table in a community area. There is a toddler area in the playground. However, they no longer have the swings, etc. that they used to have a few years ago. The party tables are in that space now. There will be more than one party going on and the park and playground remain open to the public during the party. I would significantly shorten the guest list or get more chaperones. We found it to be a good value and cheaper than some of the other similar places to have a birthday party. Have fun.

When I was a nanny a few years back, the park was wide open. It is a large, neat place & I advise you to get as many "helpers" to watch the kids as possible. You may even consider asking the parents to just be there with their own kids. You can tell them that the pizza etc food is on you for the kids, but the parents must provide their own? Yes, visit the place before you book into it. They do have a playground that i can remember that your toddler may like. Actually, 2 playgrounds. There should be a web site or a phone # to ask questions too. HAVE FUN!!!!!

Edinborough Park is a lot of fun. I was introduced to it a few years ago. My daughter is 9 now. I have no idea how the parties work, but there is a play area that's appropriate for slightly older kids - toddlers on up. I'm not so sure about the 1 year olds though. Your 7 year old and her friends may still enjoy that area. However, they do also have a gym where they can play any variety of gym games and they also have an indoor pool (and an indoor walking/running track for adults). Again, you'd have to check to see what's actually included in the party.

We've had parties at Edinborough Park. When one of my daughters turned two, we had a party with all of her cousins and friends. The age range was nearly 2 to 12. Edinborough Park was great, but you do need lots of help. First of all, I put name tags on all of the kids. Secondly, I had recruited friends/family to stay in each room to keep an eye on the kids. Finally, I had a fun, athletic parent or two hang out in the climber thingie because it never seemed to fail that someone got lost/ was bumped/ wanted Mommy.

Yes, Edinborough Park is lots of fun. I would suggest, if possible, to have all kids wear the same color, so that it is easier to track them.

We have been there before, but awhile ago. Both of my kids loved it. My advice to you is to not plan on only half of the kids making it. You may be suprised. We invited 15 girls to my daughter's birthday party thinking not all would be able to come and they did! It was fun, but nuts. The last party we had only one friend was unable to come. Just thought I would let you know what happened to us.

My daughter went to a birthday party there a few weeks ago. She is only four - as were most of the other guests - so most parents stayed. It is a lot of fun but it isn't closed in and there are multiple places for kids to go...it is a difficult place to manage more than a couple of kids. I saw another group of birthday party kids all wearing purple T shirts...they had an adult posted in the gym and in the park as well. If we ever attend a birthday party there again, I will stay to watch...there is zero security and I'd be so nervous if I left! Build A Bear puts on a really fun birthday party!

First, don't expect half to say no. I did that for my son's party last summer, and I ended up with 20 kids in my house. Only 2 did not show, and those were the ones who did not RSVP.

If you are going to have that many kids at Edinborough, I would just make sure you have other adults to help keep track of the kids. The playground is enclosed, but it is large. I think it's a great place for a party.
