Hi Mama's, We are planning a trip to San Diego and will be visiting Seaworld and Legoland. We already have our tickets to Seaworld so just need to worry about Legoland. My question is this, do any of you know the best place to stay to go to both parks? Also, I looked on-line for package deals for hotel/tickets to Legoland and the prices are sky-high!!! And this was weekday prices!! We really didn't want to pay more than $100 per night. If any of you have done this kind of trip, can you please tell me how it all worked out, where you stayed if you were able to get any discount tickets.

Thanks!

What can I do next?

Be careful if you go see the shark aquarium built out of legos - I heard it leaks.

lol DOP that's MEAN!

I have never been there BUT we always use priceline.com or orbitz.com when we are looking for good hotel rooms on the fly. Try those sites.

Not sure what timeof year you're traveling.
If by some chance you are a homeschooling family, Legoland offers a really great deal on tickets on certain Mondays during the school year.
But I'm assuming you're going in the summer.
If you have a car, and aren't flying, which I am assuming this is the case, since you're from Tujunga (isn't that north L.A.?), either try staying in a hotel in a nearby city like Oceanside, Encinitas, Del Mar (maybe not Del Mar, that tends to be pretty pricey), etc.
Also, there a two Motel 6's, within a couple miles of Legoland and I think they are $69 a night or something, maybe less. I see the signs when we drive by on our occasional trips down that way. Last I checked they weren't super nice, but that was a long time ago, I think by now they have probably improved to get Legoland business.
Last time we went to Legoland without doing the homeschool thing, they had a deal online, where if you paid full price for a day, you got a second day free.
Also, if someone you know has a subscription to Lego Magazine, they have coupons to buy an adult ticket, get a child ticket free.
Lastly, check AAA. We got Seaworld tickets from them, I imagine they have discounts for Legoland as well, and might even offer package deals.

My parents always stay in a Motel 6 in El Cajon when they come to San Diego. It's probably about 30-40 minutes away from both Sea World and Legoland. It is not the most scenic part of SD County, but my dad swears it's the cheapest.

As for Legoland tickets, there are always promotions where you pay for an adult ticket and get a child's ticket free. I believe there are coupons on the back of General Mills cereal boxes right now.

Hope you have lots of fun. Good luck to you and yours.

Legoland and Sea World aren't really that close to each other. It is probably about a 35-40 minute drive between the two. My advice would be to stay close to one of the parks and then drive to the other, so that you're not doing long drives each day. You'll be happy if one of the mornings you are within 5 minutes of the park.

Legoland is surprisingly expensive. KFC gives away free kids ticket with just about any purchase, so you should be able to get that. At least then you are only paying for adults.
