Does anyone have any experiences with Sanford Brown? I am still looking into going back to school and this is one I was looking at. Please let me know if you have had any good or bad experiences with them. One major thing I am interested in is if you have had luck getting a job after going there - aka accredidation (sp?). Thank you ladies in advance, S.

It depends.... If you plan on taking some courses from Sanford Brown & complete a degree/certificate somwehere else, then I don't recommend it. Some of their courses do not transfer well to other schools. If you plan on completing a program there then fine. Go interview other colleges in the area & ask them. Any questions that arise when talking to another school should be written down & addressed. This way you will get a good idea of ALL your options. There are a lot of good colleges out there to choose from. Sanford Brown is one of many.

This is a very generalised answer, but it gives you the idea that you really need to look at many schools before making your decision.

Good luck & GOOD FOR YOU for going to school!

S., I don't know personally about Sanford Brown, but I can tell you when I was hiring people and I looked at their resume, a 4 year college held a lot more weight with me than Sanford Brown. Check out your local university or college programs first. Even a community college was better than Sanford Brown on a resume. So save your money for a better accredited school.

I've been an admission counselor for 8 years. If you're going for nursing, respiratory therapy or x-ray tech, then I think it is a good move because it is probably the fastest, most comprehensive way to enter into those fields. If you're going for coding and billing, medical assiting I wouldn't do it. There are too many job seekers in those fields, and you can learn on the job for those fields.

Good luck!

If you are considering anything in business then it is a worthless degree because well it is not a real degree. Not sure where you live but in StL there are only three universities that offer acredited programs, Saint Louis University, Washington University, and University of Missouri StL.

You are better off and it is less expensive to go to a community college. Everything will transfer and it is considered a real degree.

i have never had experience with them myself, but i know several people who have completed courses there and their degrees are useless. no one will hire them because their degrees are not qualified enough. my mom was going to attend to be a vet tech so i called around il and mo to see if anyone would hire a SB graduate and not a single one said they would. they dergrees dont give enough experience of training. i would try SWIC if in the area, they are very inexpensive and have great finacial aid. hope this helps.

I did not go there, but I have had contact with their students in a clinical setting. It was not a good experience, and our facility cut ties with them as the school was not producing high caliber students in the field I work in. Plus the cost is much more than a community college. the commercials for x-ray techs say the field is good, and I can tell you for a fact that jobs are very hard to come by in x-ray. So don't believe their ads.

I agree with the former poster, to look around and research all of your options first. Sanford Brown is good for some programs, but my husband ended up having to sue them in a class action suit because they were not qualified to offer the program he was in (desktop publishing) and credits wouldnt' transfer when they said they would. It was a big mess!! If everyone hadn't been afraid to sue, they could have gotten all of their tuition back, but some people backed out. He was able to get a portion of his tuition forgiven, and he still got his Associates Degree. So we are not fond of them, but I don't think they are all bad. Just do your homework and look around.
