Call a pharmacist in your area. They know what is safe!
In the meantime, you can make a home remedy that my sister passed to me, and IT WORKS!!
1/2 cup honey
2 lemons, juiced (MUST be real lemons, not the stuff you can buy!)
2 cloves garlic, pressed
2 - 3 cups water
Boil the water then remove from heat. Stir in honey until dissolved. Stir in the rest. Drink 1/2 cup several times a day. Store in refrigerator and heat as needed. It sounds GROSS, but it isn't that bad when you are sick. The better you feel, the worse it tastes. If it tastes horrible, you are better!
EVERYTHING in it is naturally helpful in a safe (medecinal) way.
Lemon is an antioxidant
Garlic helps with congestion
Viruses cannot harbor in honey
Water is .... well hydrating.

Education not medication.
What kind of cough is it?
Dry? requires fluids, sip on water.
Itchy? a teaspoon of honey usually does the trick

A., our society is so quick to take/prescribe something when the body is the slightest bit "under the weather". Illness, coughs, fevers etc are all signs that something is out of balance. When we hide it with "meds", and yes cough candies fall into that category, we mask the symptoms and don't let the problem surface. I don't know what kind of cough you have but maybe you want to take a look at why you are coughing and find a natural cure to help rid it, not hide it.

Sucrets are the only safe ones, to my knowledge. I wouldn't advise taking the others but you can take Robitussin, I think just the regular stuff not DM.

use vicks on the bottom of your feet. cover with socks. honey is a natural cough reliever, try the recipe another mama posted below, it cant hurt!!

All cough drops are safe to use during pregnancy, but if you have doubts about them or any other over-the-counter medications, call your OB.

Check out safefetus.com for medication lists. You type in the name of a drug/medicine and it gives it a rating and possible side effects. If something doesn't come up, try a different name (for instance, if "Tylenol" didn't come up, try "acetominaphen" instead.)

I didn't know they weren't safe to take during pregnancy. I took them when I was pregnant with my second. I had a horrible cold that just wouldn't stop. I used Vicks and took Children's Benadryl too.
