Reverse Morning Sickness???

I am not sure what else to call it???
I had my second daughter 10 weeks ago and starting around 8 weeks, I began to have what I can only describe as morning sickness.
I am sick to my stomach at times, headaches, dizzy, vision kinda off, back hurting, ect....

I know your first thought is she must be pregnant, but I assure you I am not.
We have only had sex 2 times WITH a condom, around 6 and 7 weeks postpartum and last week hubby got a vasectomy! :)
On the safe side I did take a pregnancy test this AM, just in case of condom failure, and it is negative! I mean how often do condoms not work when used right...

Anyhow I do remember with my first daughter I had some of these same symptoms around the 8 week mark as well, but these just seem stronger.
I assume that it is just my hormones leveling out and wanted to see if any of you ladies had what seems like morning sickness, after the birth of any of your kiddos.

I am not concerned enough to call my OB, but just thought I would check in with you ladies. It has gotten better the past few days so it appears to be going away, but any insight you can offer would be great.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Heheheeh YES we know we have to be careful until 12 weeks after the vasectomy, so condoms will be used full time until then. Trut us we got pregnant with #2 when #1 was only 7 months old... so we won't make that (happy) mistake again. :)
All this info makes total sense~ I am always tired, I don't drink enough fluids, and probably don't eat enough all the time. With a 18 month old and a 2 month old, I am lucky to remember to brush my teeth :)
It is nice to hear that others have gone through something similar. Hopefully if I just take a little better care of myself, I'll start to feel better in no time.
Thanks!

I had round-the-clock nausea during the second week after my son was born. After doing a little research, I had come to the understanding that it was somehow related to lactation. I found some comfort in this online article:

http://www.kellymom.com/bf/concerns/mom/nausea-bf.html

I was surprised that my doctors had never heard of this scenario; however they went ahead and prescribed me an anti-nausea (Reglan did not work and Zofran worked a little). The nausea only lasted a week.

Also, when my son was around 4 months old, I began to have some symptoms that are often associated with pregnancy (occassional dizziness and a metallic taste in my mouth). These have also subsided now that he is 5 months old.

I would chalk it up to hormones. Post partum hormones can be just as awful as pregnant hormones. Or you could have an inner ear infection that is causing some vertigo. They are not always painful just really yucky because you feel nauseated all the time. Might be something to mention to the doc next time you are in and have your hormone levels checked out. Maybe you are harboring some pregnancy stuff still that is causing you hormone levels to stay up there. Just a thought, I am no expert and have never heard of this before.

No insight on first-hand-experience but if you would want to do something about it: I have had the best success with acupuncture to balance out hormones. It really is a great support and works quickly. All the best and Congratulations!!!

This sure sounds like your body just getting back to its old self. I wouldn't be too concerned with it unless it hangs around for more than a week. You want to make sure you don't have something else going on. Each kid is different so you never know how you will feel. And remember, condoms do fail and vasectomies are not in full effect for 3 to 6 months so be careful!!!

Good luck and I hope you feel better.

This is interesting-I've never heard of anyone else experiencing this before! I have had a similar thing happen after 3 of my babies, but it doesn't happen after consecutive children (it happened with #4, 5, and 7-but not 6), and I have still not been able to figure out what causes it. With mine it kicks in earlier though, like 1-2wks PP, and makes me horribly sick-to the point that with two of them we debated an ER trip thinking it must be something serious. It comes and goes in waves, isn't every day, and will continue for a couple of weeks. I've had 2 different drs try to figure it out and no one can. I've done scans, ultrasounds, and blood work and nothing offers any clue. The most common assumption has been my gallbladder, but it is always clear. I'm still baffled, as are my docs.
I'm sorry I don't have any answers, but glad to know I'm not the only one who gets sick after babies. The hormone theory has been my only guess after everything else has come out ok. The link on breastfeeding and nausea is interesting, I've never heard that connection before. I'd love to know if you figure out what is causing it! GL!

Hi J., I think it could be hormones but do you think it may be from sleep deprivation? I was so sleep deprived after I had my daughter that I often had those same symptoms. It's amazing what happens to our bodies without good rest.

I hope you feel better soon! We mama's have enough to do without feeling sick! :)
