Regarding Changing Delivery Hospitals

I don't know about MCA or Arlington Memorial. However, I don't think it would matter at all switching hospitals. I just had my little girl two weeks ago at Baylor All Saints and my OB did not deliver her. She came in the middle of the ice-storm and the on call doctor did the delivery. I definitely feel like we could have gone anywhere since I did not know the doctor or the nurses who cared for me. I had toured the facility but that was the only familiar thing. I would choose the hospital that will give you the best all around care including the baby. I was very impressed with All Saints and happy to have delivered her there. Not being familiar with the doctor wasn't an issue.

Memorial is phenomenal! Especially the nursing staff! I hate to knock MCA, but.....

I think some of the questions you need to find out about is whether your doctor is on staff to deliver at both places and whether your insurance would have a problem with this. They have probably already pre-certified you for admission to MCA- Have you paid any deposits to the hospital? Arlington Memorial and MCA are about 10 minutes apart so distance is not really a big factor. I would not advise you to just walk into Arlington Memorial--you would have a ton of papers to fill out and they would not have any of your information on file. Talk to your doctor about some of your concerns. Make sure that your doctor is aware if you change, otherwise the doctor or (one of the rotating partners) will show up at the wrong hospital for your delivery.

I loved Arlington Memorial! I think that if your doctor is on staff at both hospitals then why not just go ahead and see if you can change hospitals now instead of waiting until it's time. I have never delivered at MCA, but have had enough experience with illness in the ER to know I will never go back to that hospital unless it is not my choice.
