Red, Painful Testicles

My son has red testicles and when pressed on he gets uncomfortable and cries and squirms. I first thought it was just diaper rash, but it is only on his testicles. Any ideas?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

It seems to have disappeared overnight. Now he laughs if I press on them. Maybe just the heat and a diaper rash!?

Hi B.,

The only thing I can tell you is that you need to take him in now. To the ER if you can. My son had something like that and he got really ill. He was in the hopital for 4 days this can be life or very bad don't whant to scare you but take him in now. Or call his doctor first but no matter what the problem is and I hope that by this time he has been seen by a doctor.

Good luck!

If Austin were mine, I would take him to be seen. It can be a few different things and all require medical treatment as quickly as possible.

Sounds like some sort of infection. I would take him to the doctor asap.

He probably has a yeast infection. My boys had this a lot. Just get some cream like you would use if you had a yeast infection and keep putting that on until it clears up. Sometimes you will need to put something like vasiline on it to help it stay on so that the diaper won't absorb it.

That happened to my son and it turned out to be a fungal infection. Go see the doctor, if its the fungal infection they will give you a cream to put on it but if its something else it could be very serious.

Go to the PEDIATRICIAN. It sounds like there could be an infection. Anytime genitals are painful and red, or in any kind of pain like that they should be looked at!

Hi B.,
I would recommend taking him to a pediatrician. My son has something called a 'hydroseal' and one of his testicles is swollen but it isn't painful. When I took him to the pediatrician he said it wasn't anything super serious now but to keep an eye on it. If it became painful, he said that in my son's case it may mean that he has a hernia. I'm not saying this is your son's situation but you never know what could be going on down there. I would take him to a doctor asap.
